The JetPack Glide XL System has solved my problem!

Moving around big DJ consoles like the Pioneer DJ Opus Quad requires care, as they are heavy, awkward, and very expensive. These types of consoles are usually used by DJs at smaller clubs and pop-up events, and often need to be transported in your vehicle. I’ve been the idiot who thought carefully placing gear like this in the backseat would be fine, only to have to make a sudden stop and have my gear fly off the seat and get damaged.

So if you are a DJ moving around these types of consoles and larger controllers, here is your new insurance policy that your gear arrives safely every time, and you remember all your cables and other kit. Now, every curb, staircase, and baggage cart doesn’t feel like an unnecessary gamble.

Note: This is not a bag I would recommend checking on an airplane as it’s still a bit too vulnerable for that type of travel without a hardsided case.

I got a hold of the Glide XL System (pictured below) for my Pioneer DJ OPUS Quad, which I use for pop-up parties, transporting to clubs that don’t have a kit, and sometimes just for safe storage when it’s not in use.

JetPack Glide XL System

Retailing for $465, the Glide XL System isn’t simply a roller bag—it’s a complete travel solution that includes JetPack’s excellent Snap Backpack, creating a modular system designed specifically for working DJs. After using it extensively with my Pioneer DJ Opus Quad, it’s become one of those products that quietly makes every gig easier.

The Jetpack Glide XL System – Built Around Today’s Flagship Controllers

The Glide XL System is designed for DJs using professional-grade all-in-one systems, larger controllers and even CDJs and mixers. It’s kitted out with a large variety of dividers so you can get your padding placed perfectly for maximum protection.

Compatible gear includes:

  • Pioneer DJ Opus Quad
  • AlphaTheta XDJ-AZ
  • Pioneer XDJ-XZ
  • Denon Prime 4+
  • Roland DJ-808
  • Multiple CDJs and mixers
  • Other oversized professional controllers

Finding a travel bag for the Opus Quad has been on my mind since I got it, so after linking with the JetPack crew, I got the chance to get my hands on some of the bags and take them for a test drive.

You can feel secure and confident in this universal carrier because inside the Glide XL, the adjustable padded interior allows you to dial in a snug, secure fit that inspires confidence whether you’re loading into a club or navigating the back of a crowded van full of gear.

JetPack Glide XL Handle
The JetPack Glide XL handles are a good indicator that this bag will travel well and take a beating; handles and zippers are always a detail to look for.

Build Quality That Feels Built for the Road

The first thing I noticed was how substantial the Glide XL feels without crossing into flight-case territory.

Its reinforced shell, thick padding, durable exterior fabric, oversized zippers, and smooth rollerblade wheels all give the impression that JetPack designed this bag around years of real-world travel rather than simply adding wheels to a soft case.

Multiple reinforced grab handles and plastic sliding rails on the bottom make lifting the bag into vehicles much easier than with traditional roller luggage, while the telescoping handle rolls smoothly over sidewalks, down stairs, and, surprisingly, rough parking lots.

After a month of transporting my Opus Quad, the bag still looks remarkably fresh, with no loose stitching or worn wheel assemblies—usually the first signs of cheaper luggage beginning to fail.

JetPack Snap Backpack
There is a kangaroo pocket of sorts on the top of the JetPack Glide XL that allows you to strap in your JetPack Snap backpack for safe travel and storage.

The Snap Backpack Makes This a Complete System

One of the smartest aspects of the JetPack Glide XL System is that they didn’t stop at designing an excellent roller bag.

Included with the system is the JetPack Snap Backpack, which integrates directly into the Glide XL’s dedicated exterior sleeve or what I call the Kangaroo pocket. Instead of balancing another backpack on top of your luggage while hoping it doesn’t slide off every fifty feet, the backpack securely attaches to the roller bag via a locking loop strap, effectively turning both into one streamlined travel system.

The backpack itself is equally well thought out, and I can see why many DJs use this as their go-to gear bag when traveling for gigs, as it’s got room and then some for all your essentials in a streamlined form factor.

There’s a dedicated laptop compartment, room for headphones, cables, USB sticks, power supplies, and enough everyday storage to easily double as your daily backpack once you reach your destination. The slim form factor also glides under an airline seat with ease, and it’s become my go-to travel backpack.

Once you’re set up at the gig, you can detach the backpack and leave the larger roller bag safely stored away out of sight. So if you are using it to store your cables, headphones, sticks, and laptop, you can just keep the pack in arm’s reach.

Organization Without the Clutter

Large gear bags often become black holes where adapters mysteriously disappear. JetPack clearly spent time considering workflow and customization with this system. Roll it into the gig, unpack the core machine (controller/console) and boosters if you have some, then go to the backpack for the second round of essentials.

Internal compartments, cable storage, accessory pockets, and customizable padding make organizing gear on your own terms simple, as we all have our own systems right? Power cables stay separated from audio cables, headphones have their own space, and USB drives don’t end up buried beneath power bricks.

I’ve learned this lesson the hard way too many times, if you are not showing up with a workflow system and well organized, you are going to slow yourself down or just look like you don’t know what you are doing as you dig through your pockets with an angry look on your face. Also, this comes in handy when you’re setting up in a dark DJ booth or warehouse space; organization becomes more valuable than you realize.

Pro Tip: This bag easily fits a powered light that you can pull out for setup. I use a Husky worklight that I got at Home Depot, and it has served me well while setting up and breaking down in raw spaces.

Is the JetPack Glide XL System Worth $465?

At first glance, $465 sounds like a serious investment for a bag, but if you amortize this over three to four years of heavy use, it makes sense really quickly. It’s also an extra layer of insurance on your gear investment.

Always remember you’re protecting a controller worth anywhere from $2,000 to $3,500; you drop this the wrong way, and that becomes a loss. Viewed through that lens, the JetPack Glide XL System becomes significantly easier to justify and is a must for mobile professionals.

If you also look at the other benefits, the value becomes even clearer. You’re also investing in sanity, convenience, organization, mobility, and a travel workflow that genuinely reduces stress every time you leave for a gig.

So if you are someone who is gigging with this type of gear regularly, it’s worth every cent and you will thank yourself after just one gig.

Who Is It For?

The Glide XL System is ideal for:

  • Professional DJs and serious enthusiasts are climbing that DJ ladder
  • Mobile DJs – Wedding and corporate event performers
  • Anyone using premium large-format DJ equipment

If you’re carrying an entry-level controller, it’s probably more bag than you need. If you’re traveling with an Opus Quad, Prime 4+, or XDJ-AZ, it’s one of the most practical investments you can make.

Final Thoughts on the JetPack Glide XL System

I’ve always found that my go-to gear is the stuff that just works without overthinking. Like a great suitcase, you know exactly how to pack it, where to put stuff, and how to max it out. The same goes for a gig bag; it’s your sidekick.

After a month or so of using the JetPack Glide XL System with my Pioneer DJ Opus Quad, that’s exactly what’s happened. I no longer think about whether my controller is protected, whether my backpack will slide off my luggage, or whether I’ll have enough room for everything I need. I’ve got it dialed in, sitting in my closet like the Batmobile, ready for action.

By combining a premium roller bag with the versatile Snap Backpack, JetPack has created a thoughtfully designed ecosystem that feels purpose-built for modern DJs. It isn’t the cheapest travel solution on the market, nor is it trying to be. Instead, it’s aimed squarely at professionals who understand that protecting expensive gear is just as important as the gear itself.

For anyone regularly traveling with flagship DJ equipment, the JetPack Glide XL System earns its place as one of the smartest investments you can make before your next gig.
