HEDD Audio has announced EDITION X, a strictly limited anniversary version of its Type 05 A-Core studio monitor. The release marks the company’s 10th anniversary and honors founder Klaus Heinz’s 40 years in loudspeaker design. Only 100 pairs of EDITION X will be produced, each handcrafted in Berlin with upgraded materials, gold-plated details, and a focus on timeless precision.
The design of EDITION X reflects the company’s philosophy that materials define components, and components define speakers. Every part—from the custom ENIG-finished PCB to the 18k gold-plated backplate, screws, and tweeter grille—serves a technical and aesthetic purpose. Each monitor carries a unique engraved serial number, making every pair distinct.
Built on a Legacy of Craftsmanship

The new model builds on the core architecture of HEDD’s Type 05 A-Core monitor, incorporating elements such as the Air Motion Transformer tweeter, honeycomb woofer, and ICE Power Class D amplification shared with the company’s MK2 and Tower Mains lines. The refinements elevate analog performance, ensuring purity of signal and long-term reliability.
Founder Klaus Heinz explained that EDITION X was conceived to embody permanence, precision, and sonic integrity, aligning with HEDD’s mission to serve professionals and listeners who value nuance and accuracy. The monitors are designed not for decoration but as tools built for a lifetime of use, made entirely by hand in Germany.
Inspired by Gold

Gold serves as the visual and symbolic foundation for EDITION X. Its purity reflects the monitor’s fully analog signal path, delivering uncolored and unprocessed sound. Its longevity parallels the ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold) PCB finish, chosen for stability and corrosion resistance. Its rarity is echoed in the production run of just 100 pairs. And, like gold’s unmatched conductivity, EDITION X maintains precise signal flow through carefully matched analog components.
Even the smallest details carry meaning. From engraved knobs and serial numbers to the gold-foil accents on the packaging, each feature reinforces HEDD’s approach to design as an expression of enduring craftsmanship.
A Pledge of Permanence
To commemorate Klaus Heinz’s four decades in speaker design, one of the 100 pairs includes a gold-plated 40-year warranty card, hidden as a symbol of trust and commitment to longevity. All units, including EDITION X, carry HEDD’s standard 5-year warranty as a reflection of the company’s faith in its engineering standards.
EDITION X will be available from select partners starting October 2025, limited to 100 pairs worldwide. Each unit is individually handmade in Germany and presented as a once-in-a-lifetime edition for collectors and professionals alike.
