VASSY & Tigerlily Revive Tiësto & KSHMR’s ‘Secrets’ with a 2025 festival-ready twist

Ten years ago, Tiësto and KSHMR dropped the now-legendary Secrets, featuring the powerhouse vocals of Australian singer VASSY — a track that went multi-platinum, topped charts in over 30 countries, and became an enduring club music anthem. 

Now, a decade later, VASSY has teamed up with fellow Aussie DJ and producer Tigerlily to breathe new life into the hit. Their reimagined Secrets dropped on August 15, bringing a bigger, faster, and even more electrifying energy to festival dance floors around the world. 

We caught up with both artists to talk about how the collaboration came to be, why the timing was perfect, and what it means for two leading women in electronic music to unite over one of the genre’s most celebrated tracks. 

How Australia’s EDM queens finally united 

Both women have been prominent figures in Australia’s music scene for years, but this marks their first official collaboration. So why did it take so long? 

VASSY: “This year felt like the perfect time — it’s the milestone anniversary of Secrets, my original classic with Tiësto and KSHMR. I’ve always loved Tigerlily’s energy, and when she reached out with her new take on the track, I was instantly excited to collaborate. It meant a lot to me knowing she’s been playing Secrets in all her sets for years and has been such a big supporter of the record. It felt like a natural fit — two Australian women in EDM, celebrating something we both love. I’m proud to see another incredible female talent rise and to pass the torch to a new generation.” 

Tigerlily: “I’ve been a long-time fan of Vassy’s vocals. Her voice really stands out and has such a unique quality. We first connected over Instagram and from there the rest was history.” 

Why bring ‘Secrets’ back now? 

Revisiting such an iconic record was no small decision — but for Tigerlily, the answer was obvious. 

Tigerlily: “‘Secrets’ has been a really important track in my sets over the years. It’s one of those songs that connects with people on the dance floor in a special way. When I was thinking about which song to revisit and refresh, ‘Secrets’ immediately came to mind because of its timeless appeal and the energy it brings. Connecting with Vassy to hear that she was open and excited about reimagining her vocals made the decision feel even stronger. We wanted to bring the song into 2025 with a fresh sound while still respecting what made the original so memorable.” 

VASSY: “This record is something special — the love and support from fans has been unreal. Secrets went #1 in over 30 countries and went more than 10× Platinum, which still

blows my mind. The original changed my life and took me all over the world. Ten years later, it felt right to give it a new chapter. Tigerlily brought her own energy and perspective, and together we’ve kept the heart of the original while building something fresh for today’s dance floors and for new fans discovering it for the first time.” 

A shared creative vision 

When it came to working together, both artists clicked instantly. 

Tigerlily: “Even though our individual projects have their own distinct styles and directions, when it came to this track, we found a shared creative vision quite quickly. We both wanted to capture that high-energy, big MainStage vibe that gets crowds moving and feeling that adrenaline rush. From the start, we were aligned on putting energy and impact front and center in the track. That mutual understanding made the creative process smooth and focused and I think that really comes through in the final result.” 

VASSY: “Absolutely. We both believe music should have emotion and purpose — not just a big drop. In the studio, we kept asking, ‘Does this feel authentic? Does it move you?’ There was no ego, just a shared goal of making something powerful and empowering.” 

On admiring each other’s talents 

The collaboration also sparked a little friendly admiration — and envy. 

VASSY: “Tigerlily’s energy is unmatched — she lights up a room instantly. I’d take that in a heartbeat… and her DJ skills… and, okay, her beautiful legs too! [laughs] I think she might say my ability to pour raw emotion into a vocal take.” 

Tigerlily: “I would definitely say Vassy’s voice without a doubt. It’s powerful, emotive, and really stands out and it’s a skill I admire a lot. Singing has never been my strong suit so having a voice like hers would mean karaoke nights would definitely be more enjoyable for everyone if I could pull that off.” 

Breaking barriers in Dance music 

VASSY made history in 2023 as the first woman to win the ICON Award at the Electronic Dance Music Awards. She says progress has been made — but there’s still work to do. 

VASSY: “We’ve made progress, but there’s still a gap. Women are more visible now, but we’re still the minority on a lot of lineups. My hope is that one day, being a woman in dance music isn’t a headline — it’s just normal. I also want the industry to embrace all life stages so artists don’t feel they’re ‘out of the race’ if they take time for family or health. Winning the ICON Award in such a male-dominated category was a huge milestone for me. It made me proud to open the pathway for other women, and I think when we do it together, it empowers us all to unite and uplift one another.” 

A message of authenticity

At its core, Secrets — both old and new — is about self-acceptance and embracing every part of yourself. 

Tigerlily: “I think everyone has parts of themselves that they love and parts they might feel unsure about or want to change and that’s completely normal. What makes you unique including those things you’re still figuring out is what shapes your story and your identity. It’s important to embrace all of it and feel comfortable in your own skin because that authenticity is what connects us to others. This song celebrates those differences and encourages people to express themselves freely and without fear which is such a powerful message.” 

VASSY: “You’re the only you there is — that’s your superpower. Stop trying to edit yourself to fit someone else’s version of you. “Secrets” is about owning all of it — even the messy parts — because that’s what makes you unforgettable. As a woman in this industry, I’ve often been told I should be ‘more’ of this or ‘less’ of that… or that I should get behind the decks and be a DJ because that’s the future of dance. But I’ve always stayed true to myself as an artist, songwriter, singer, and producer. That authenticity is my greatest strength, and I want fans to embrace theirs too.” 

Life lessons beyond the music 

Both women have found ways to balance personal life with an intense touring schedule — and those lessons carry into the studio and stage. 

VASSY: “Boundaries. Learning to say ‘no’ protects your energy, and when you protect your energy, you give your best self to your work. I also think taking time to nurture your personal life — family, friends, nature — is essential. It keeps you grounded, and that balance shows up in your art.” 

Tigerlily: “Motherhood in particular has taught me to embrace unpredictability and let go of the need for everything to be perfect. Life can be chaotic and trying to control every detail isn’t realistic. Learning to accept that and work with it has made me more adaptable and creative in the studio and more confident on stage. It’s helped me stay focused on what matters and respond to situations as they come which is invaluable in such a fast-paced environment.” 

Crowds that left a mark 

For Tigerlily, it’s all about finding unexpected moments of home on tour. 

Tigerlily: “Performing in Europe always feels special because you often find little pockets of Aussies in the crowd which creates an unexpected sense of home away from home. It’s always a pleasant surprise to spot familiar faces in the crowd. That connection reminds me of where I started and adds a layer of warmth and excitement to the show that’s really memorable.” 

VASSY still remembers one crowd above all others. 

VASSY: “Mexico — hands down. The crowd sang every single word, even to the unreleased tracks. That kind of passion gives you goosebumps. And of course, I’ll never forget

performing Secrets with Tiësto at Ultra for the first time, and then again at Tomorrowland in Belgium — the largest audience I’ve ever seen. It was a completely sensory, unforgettable moment.” 

The 2025 ‘Secret ingredients’ 

So, what exactly makes the new version fit today’s dance floors? 

VASSY: “We kept the emotional core but gave it a fresh, modern punch — a bigger drop, more dynamic percussion, and elements that hit perfectly in today’s festival and club sets. It’s faster, with a higher BPM, and has that extra energy fans have been asking me for. People have been wanting another big EDM banger from me for years, and I’m so happy to finally give them this. The loyalty around Secrets has been incredible, and this new version with Tigerlily is my way of saying Thank You.” 

Tigerlily: “One of the biggest changes has been how much the tempo and energy levels have shifted in popular dance music especially with the influence of platforms like TikTok. People are really into harder, faster beats now. So for this version, we sped things up and 

added some sharper elements to make it more energetic and fitting for today’s crowd while still keeping the core emotion and vibe of the original track intact.” 

The reimagined Secrets is already making waves on streaming platforms — and for fans old and new, it’s a perfect bridge between EDM’s golden era and its future.
