Imaginando’s Visual Synthesizer

Imaginando, a music software company from Portugal, has produced innovative software for studio and DJ applications. Their product range includes the renowned DRC Polyphonic Synthesizer plug-in and apps that transform tablets into DJ or DAW controllers. The latest addition to their line-up is the VS – Visual Synthesizer. While it’s referred to as a “visual synth,” we believe it’s more accurately described as a music visualization system that generates video content synchronized with the music in real-time.
This system offers a creative and visually engaging approach to music visualization.
So, who would benefit from using VS? The Visual Synthesizer would be suitable for adding a dynamic video component to a traditional DJ set or serving as a visual centerpiece for a performing DJ playing music from a DAW. It will sync up your visuals with your music playing. We could also see this easily fitting into music producers who stream on Twitch. The MIDI sync would add an intricate visual element to the backdrop of the streamer’s setup!

KSHMR’s Reverb

KSHMR has partnered with Plugin Alliance to release a new reverb plugin, KSHMR Reverb. This plugin offers a variety of features that allow for extensive customization, including adjustable room size, decay time, and high and low pass filters. One of the most notable features of the plugin is its Volume Manager panel, which allows users to shape the tail of the reverb with ducking, fade-in, and gating controls. Additionally, the Tone Manager panel eliminates harsh attacks from the reverb signal and enhances its tonality.
The plugin also includes a Special FX panel with a Reverse mode and an additional harmony Octave control for a thicker timbre. A 6-node EQ with five shapes for fine-tuning the frequencies of the reverb tail is also available. The resizable interface with real-time signal processing visualization makes monitoring and adjusting EQ and threshold settings easy.
Despite not having the same lush reverb quality as other plugins, KSHMR Reverb offers practical features that make it a worthwhile investment. The Volume and Tone Manager panels offer a high level of control over the reverb tail, while the Special FX panel and 6-node EQ allow for even more customization. Overall, KSHMR Reverb is a versatile and innovative reverb plugin worth considering for producers and engineers looking for unique and dynamic reverb effects.

Mixed In Key’s Pilot Plugins

Pilot Plugins has released a new AI-driven software that aims to help users easily create melodies and music tracks. The app, called “Pilot Melody Machine”, comes with a pack of musical styles, with more promised in the future. The app takes a visual approach to make music, allowing users to see the effect of their tweaking on the piano roll of Midi notes. It also offers a “regenerate” button that instantly creates a new musical idea based on the user’s parameters.
The Pilot Melody Machine also integrates with other tools, such as the Captain Chords plugin, which allows users to fix a chord progression and have Pilot Plugins help with melody, bass, and arpeggio. Phase Plant, an award-winning synthesizer, powers the sound engine, and the app comes with a library of classic and modern synth sounds. Pilot Plugins is currently available for Windows and Mac, and it works with Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, and Studio One.
The most innovative and forward-thinking features of the Pilot Melody Machine are its AI-driven approach to music creation, its visual interface that allows users to see the effect of their tweaks on the piano roll of Midi notes, and its integration with other tools, such as Captain Chords. The “regenerate” button is also a notable feature, allowing users to generate new musical ideas based on their parameters instantly. Additionally, the app’s sound engine, powered by Phase Plant, and its library of classic and modern synth sounds make it a comprehensive tool for music producers of various genres.

Imaginando’s FRMS

Imaginando, a Portuguese software developer, has created a hybrid synthesizer named FRMS that fuses FM, granular, and subtractive synthesis. The software has four layers, which can act as either a subtractive or granular synthesizer, and features a library of around 150 waveforms to create new sounds. Users can also drag in their audio files as a real-time source for the granular engine.
FRMS has a multimode filter with 2- or 4-pole low-pass, 2-pole band and high-pass, and notch options, as well as an independent modulation matrix for each layer to route the layer’s envelope generators and global LFOs to the synth parameters. Users can also enable FRMS’s FM synth mode, which creates novel overtones and timbres using the output signals from each layer.
Despite the complexity of three synthesizers in one, FRMS is easy to use, with a user interface that features two main editing areas for related synth readouts and parameters and an integrated control surface with multiple modes. It even has full MIDI Polyphonic Expression support and is available on Mac, Windows, and iOS.

Lunacy Audio’s Cube

Lunacy Audio has released Cube, a new synthesizer plugin incorporating a 3D interface with a capable sample-and-synthesis engine. The main screen of the interface features a 3D cube with a floating orb that acts as a vector joystick, blending sounds.
The orb can be moved around with the mouse, driven by modulation sources, or attached to an Orbit, a 3D path within the cube that the orb follows. Users can choose from 40 preset Orbits or create their own using the built-in editor. Orbits, which are 3D paths drawn within the cube that the orb will follow, can also produce shifting tones and sonic details.
Cube has a dedicated graphics engine that removes additional graphical strain from your DAW, and the cube’s visual feedback is surprisingly detailed. Each of Cube’s eight sample engines offers basic sample editing and looping, a filter section, and an envelope generator. Four low-frequency oscillators (LFOs) and a Macro dial are modulation sources.
