Max Porcelli (@max__porcelli) is back on Magnetic Magazine Recordings with “Jaguar,” released September 4 as MMR078, and this return continues a relationship we have been documenting since 2024.
The package contains Max’s original and extended mixes alongside my own remix and extended version, though the focus belongs squarely on the Italian producer whose history with Magnetic now covers profiles, interviews, production discussions, playlists, and a guest mix so snag them all on Beatport here.
A Relationship That Started Before “Lotus”
Our first detailed profile of Max covered the scale of his working life as a DJ, producer, remixer, engineer, educator, A&R figure, and founder of 989 Records, with a career that began in 1989. When “Lotus” later became his first release on Magnetic Magazine Recordings, that background helped explain the control behind his music. He had already spent decades learning how records function on dance floors, how labels operate, and how technical decisions affect the listener.
We followed “Lotus” closely, starting with its premiere, then publishing an interview about its organic and deep house direction. Max explained that he built the track from its opening synth hook, added the surrounding melodies, and removed parts that did not serve the central idea. In his production breakdown, he discussed PadShop, Soothe, bx_subsynth, and an arrangement decision that kept the kick and bass from competing.
“Lotus” also appeared in my July 2024 melodic house roundup, Max took over our Artist of the Week playlist, and he later recorded Magnetic Mix 231, where his selection connected progressive and organic house with his own “Dahlia.” That run established him here as a producer with a large catalog and as a selector whose references help explain the decisions inside his records.
“Jaguar” Extends the Same Artistic Position
That history is important because “Jaguar” arrives after another period of development.
In our 2025 interview around “Orchid,” Max argued that producers should build recognizable musical identities instead of following short-term platform trends. When we spoke again in April 2026, the discussion moved to the reopened 989 Records, its approaching twentieth anniversary, and his work as a curator and mentor for a new roster.
“Jaguar” sits comfortably inside that position. It is a melodic, club-focused record shaped by the patience and experienced judgment Max has discussed across our earlier conversations, while the extended mix gives DJs additional space for set placement.
My remix approaches the material from another angle, though it remains an addition to Max’s original statement, which is why this release should be read as his return first. “Jaguar” marks the label’s 78th signing, and Max returns with a defined musical identity that has kept developing since “Lotus.”

Two years after “Lotus,” Max returns with a record connecting his production history, recent label work, and relationship with Magnetic Magazine Recordings. “Jaguar” is available now in original, extended, remix, and extended remix formats.
