Italian DJ, Producer, and MODVL founder Eddy D’Amato enters 2026 with clear intent. Fresh from new releases on his label, continuing to refine a sound rooted in groove-led intensity and meticulous production, he stands at a point where artistic vision and strategic direction align. As MODVL evolves into a platform where music and art intersect, Eddy continues to sharpen his own techno identity with solo releases and collaborative projects.

In this interview, he reflects on signature sound, creative discipline, and the mission guiding MODVL’s next chapter.

Hi Eddy! How are you?

Doing great.

We are only in the beginning of 2026 and you’ve already been very active. When you look at your newest work, what is the “signature” element that remains consistent?

I’d say the “signature” element that stays consistent across my newest work is groove-driven intensity paired with very precise production. I like building tracks with constant forward momentum, where a deep, slightly distorted kick and a heavy pulse keep everything moving from start to finish. Overall, I want each release to feel focused and impactful: high energy, a hypnotic atmosphere, and an immersive techno identity you can immediately recognize as mine.

Were there any specific moments that inspired the music we are hearing now?

Definitely the whole ‘journey’ of the last two years that brought me to play at a higher level. However, I must say that I’m inspired more by the future and what I hope will happen.

MODVL kicked off the year with “Timeclock”. What made it the right track to set the tone for the label in 2026?

I think about the new artistic/graphic project that launched ‘Phase 2’ of the label. These are releases born with art infused into their soul, and the theme used for this second phase is proof of that. We created covers using acrylic paints, forming a true work of art for each cover.

How do you balance being an artist on the label while also curating the music of others?

It is very difficult. Behind the label, there is a lot of planning work that very often needs to be thought about and scheduled months in advance. I try to dedicate days to producing and working on my own musical projects, and other days where I dedicate myself to the label. The reality is that I have to do both to keep up.

How would you describe the “identity” of MODVL to someone discovering it for the first time today?

I would describe it as a revolutionary identity that doesn’t exist in any other form quite like MODVL for a record label. Music meets art, and every release, every project has its own identity and story curated down to multiple details.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned as a label owner?

I’ve learned that music is not just audio files, but is made up of people and vision first and foremost. The most important lesson was to nurture relationships with artists, making them feel part of a family and supporting their vision, rather than blindly following current trends. I realized that staying true to your sonic identity always pays off in terms of credibility. Also, I discovered that solid organization doesn’t kill creativity, quite the opposite: having a clear structure allows everyone to truly focus on the music.

How do you know when a track like “RELIC” is officially finished and ready for the world?

For me, it’s a mix of technique and emotion. On one hand, there’s the mix, which must sound clean and powerful on any system. On the other hand, there’s the emotion: if the track still conveys that same initial energy to me after listening to it a hundred times in the studio, then I know it’s ready. I must say that with ‘RELIC’ this process was made much easier by the collaboration with Alex Micca; our synergy made everything more fluid and natural.

How do you maintain a fresh perspective when you are working on multiple projects at once

By trying to improve myself track by track and constantly raising the quality of the production.

How do you find the balance between following musical trends and staying true to your original sound?

Here too, it’s a matter of raising the quality to align with the genre’s standards without copying the sound of others.

As a label head, what is your primary mission for MODVL this year?

The main mission is to consolidate this incredible momentum of growth, keeping our releases consistently in the Top 100 charts. I want to expand the MODVL family by signing new visionary talents and forging strategic collaborations with other brands and established artists. But the big goal I have in my sights to bring everything full circle this year is to take it all live, by organizing the first official MODVL showcase at ADE 2026.

With a firm grip on both his studio output and MODVL’s trajectory, Eddy D’Amato approaches 2026 with focus and dedication. Whether offering tracks like ‘RELIC’ or nurturing emerging talent, his direction remains fuelled by passion and clarity, aiming to expand on his journey to date and elevate his reach across the global Electronic Music scene.
