The music created by London-born and Bristol-based composer and producer Message To Bears is always emotional, soft, and beautiful. But, on his new album, he takes all of that to another level.

Today, he returns with his latest full-length album, “Tired Eyes, Waking Hearts“, out now via Lost Birds Records. The project sees Jerome Alexander, known for his emotive, genre-blurring sound, expanding his cinematic palette across a breathtaking body of work that bridges ambient orchestral textures with intimate folktronica.

Since his debut with “EP1” in 2007, Alexander has quietly become one of the UK’s most compelling musical voices, with over 200 million streams and high-profile support slots for artists like Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. He’s graced stages at Green Man Festival and received acclaim from NPR, BBC Radio 6, KEXP, and publications like The Line of Best FitStereogum, and Teen Vogue. His music has also featured heavily in popular medias, from Netflix dramas (Virgin River, Warrior Nun) to cult video game Life Is Strange.

“Tired Eyes, Waking Hearts is deeply meaningful to me—its intention is to represent the transition from chaos to peace, including all the difficult moments in-between,” shares Alexander. “The album was recorded entirely in my home studio, blending vintage and analogue equipment with modern technology, utilising samplers, acoustic instruments, micro-tape machines alongside classical instrumentation.”

The focus track, “Capsize“, sets the tone: an evocative, jaw-droppingly beautiful piece that explores the tension between holding on and letting go, layering piano, strings, brass, and spectral electronics into a hauntingly beautiful meditation. Fans of Bon Iver, Novo Amor, and Sufjan Stevens will find plenty to love in this deeply crafted record – a gentle, resilient soundworld built for quiet reflection and expansive feeling. If you’re going through a big transition in life, then this is the perfect album for you.
