How did growing up on the Zuni Pueblo and later the Navajo reservation shape your musical ethos?
I was deeply inspired by the presence and importance of music in Zuni and later on the Navajo Nation. Music was of major significance for the people. It played a major role in my way of life and greatly inspired me. Some of my first memories were of the tribal drumming and chanting down in the Zuni Pueblo.
I felt invigorated and encouraged to live life when I heard the drumming that sounded like a heartbeat, the rattles that accompanied and the chanting that honored the spirit have always stuck with me. Later on, I found a great love for attending the powwows where many groups would gather to share their prayers through music, song and chanting. Music that honours spirit and life is my goal in what I create.
Can you elaborate on what “Global Sound” means and how it informs your work?

I mean a sound that pays tribute to people and places worldwide. I draw influence and inspiration from sounds around the globe. I do this to bridge and connect folks from around the globe on the dance floor.
My intention is to honour people and include them. By including sounds from the world I wish for listeners around the globe to catch and then attach to a sound they feel comfortable with and drawn in by. To where they can then discover and connect with other sounds and people in the shared experience.
Talk about your role as a label head and event promoter. How do these roles align with your musical vision and career goals over the long term?
It’s all about bringing people together. This is my core intention with all the work I do. I see too much division in this world, and my work is dedicated to helping create a safe space where people can express themselves and connect with others.
Tell us about “PSYCHEDELIC GIRLS.” What’s the emotion you want to convey, and how does it connect with where you’re at as an artist today?

Yes, it’s about grooving on the dance floor with friends, family, and loved ones. It’s also about noting how psychedelic this world is. It’s a physical world, a spiritual one, and somewhere in between, it’s a very psychedelic one. I hoped to invoke an emotion of fun, play, trust, openness, kindness, and love – all aligned with that which I wish to share through SWAYLÓ.
Describe the community around your brand. What brings them together?
This is my favorite aspect of the project—the community of people that have come together around it. Per my note in the last question, it’s about a fun-loving, playful, trusting, open, kind and loving community. These are the key elements that bring the community together.
What’s on the horizon for SWAYLÓ? Any new projects or collaborations we should look out for?
I’ve been working on lots of new music. Working towards some exciting new collaborations. Building out a high-quality merch line. And some exciting events and experiences. Cooking up lots of art to share with ya’ll. x
