Following the slow-swaying haze of The Way You Love Me and the lean hypnosis of Rollin Deep, Deep Cuddle returns with Spice, a brooding collaboration with vocalist suemono that dials down the warmth and sharpens the edges.

Now several releases into his most refined run of work to date, Deep Cuddle continues to cement his place as one of Chicago’s quietly consistent voices. With over two decades in the city’s underground, his approach is rooted in patience and a deep feel for movement

Through his label Penthouse Audio, he’s created space for new talent while continuing to hone his own sound: deep, detailed house music that rewards repeat listens and refuses easy categorisation.

There’s a grit to the production in Spice cuts through, but it’s all immaculately shaped, nothing out of place, everything serving the loop. As with much of Deep Cuddle’s recent work, it’s the restraint that does the heavy lifting: no cheap thrills, no break-glass moments, just a locked-in groove that slowly tightens its grip. It’s music built for heads down and lights low.
