Morphor has opened pre-orders for the ECHON 6, the world’s first polyphonic synthesizer built around analog Bucket-Brigade Delay (BBD) resonators. Developed in Ghent by a collective of artists, engineers, and musicians, the instrument represents Morphor’s move from Eurorack modules into a fully standalone, rackmountable desktop synth. The ECHON 6 follows strong public showings at Superbooth 2025 and Machina Bristronica 2025, where it drew attention for its unique approach to resonance-based synthesis and modular-style workflow.

A New Take on Analog Resonance

The ECHON 6 is a six-voice analog polysynth that uses independent BBD resonators per voice. Each resonator tracks pitch, creating natural overtones and rich harmonic movement that mimic the way sound resonates in physical instruments like strings or drums. Rather than simulating modal synthesis digitally, Morphor has implemented it entirely in the analog domain.

Each voice contains its own resonator and exciter path. The exciter section combines analog VCO waveforms, white and sample-and-hold noise sources, and a loopable ADSR envelope with onset delay. Together they allow a range of expressions, from tight plucks and percussive hits to evolving harmonic tones. With fine control over feedback, polarity, and stereo panning, users can shape textures that shift between percussive, tonal, and spatial.

Built for Hands-On Experimentation

A key part of the ECHON 6 design is its focus on direct, tactile control. Every function is accessible via dedicated knobs with no menus or screens, encouraging hands-on sound design. The synth’s 9×32 modulation matrix links envelopes, LFOs, aftertouch, velocity, and key follow to nearly any parameter, with instant assignment by holding a source key and turning a target knob. Users can store, mute, or invert modulation depth in real time, bridging modular flexibility with performance-ready immediacy.

Additional features include unison and layering options for multitimbral setups, six stereo individual outputs, and full MIDI support. The aluminum enclosure supports desktop, 19-inch rack, or VESA mounting, making it adaptable for both studio and live use.

Availability and Pricing

The first batch of ECHON 6 units is scheduled to ship on February 16, 2026. Pre-orders are open now through Morphor resellers and online shops at €2,295 including VAT.

Morphor’s development team—who also work within parent company ENT Studios—previously released the AP-1 Analogue Plectrum, a Eurorack module inspired by the Karplus-Strong principle of string synthesis. The ECHON 6 continues that lineage by expanding their modular expertise into a complete instrument built around tactile interaction, analog precision, and acoustic imagination.

Profile picture of Will Vance
By
Will Vance is a professional music producer who has been involved in the industry for the better part of a decade and has been the managing editor at Magnetic Magazine since mid-2022. In that time period, he has published thousands of articles on music production, industry think pieces and educational articles about the music industry. Over the last decade as a professional music producer, Will Vance has also ran multiple successful and highly respected record labels in the industry, including Where The Heart Is Records as well as having launched a new label with a focus on community through Magnetic Magazine. When not running these labels or producing his own music, Vance is likely writing for other top industry sites like Waves or the Hyperbits Masterclass or working on his upcoming book on mindfulness in music production. On the rare chance he's not thinking about music production, he's probably running a game of Dungeons and Dragons with his friends which he has been the dungeon master for for many years.
