Manuel Sahagun has long been an architect of the global house underground, a name known widely between crate-diggers, selectors, and those who chase the purest grooves. Now, the Argentine maestro returns to Fortunea Records with “Mermelada“, a five-track statement piece that distills his seasoned craftsmanship into something both timeless and forward-looking.

Following his acclaimed “A Daily Noise” EP, “Mermelada” once again finds Sahagun working at the intersection of warmth and motion. It’s a record that moves between moods: the lush, broken-beat textures that recall late-night São Paulo lofts; the ambient shimmer of an introspective morning after; and, of course, the pumping, floor-ready house cuts that make his productions live staples from Buenos Aires to Berlin. Each track is a conversation between eras, with the dusty swing of classic house stitched to the precision of modern sound design.

It’s no surprise that Sahagun’s reach extends from D-Edge to Tresor, from Pachá to TBA Brooklyn. His live sets weave funk, soul, and techno threads into something elastic and emotionally resonant. It’s music that feels as alive in a small club as it does under festival lights. With a discography that spans labels like Freerange, Get Physical, Salted, and Stil Vor Talent, his sound has earned the endorsement of heavyweights like Laurent Garnier, Danny Tenaglia, Claptone, and Pete Tong.

“Mermelada” is a fitting title: this EP is sweet, sticky, and lovingly handmade. Pressed to just 200 vinyl copies (with no repress on the horizon), it’s a collector’s slice of modern house history. Whether discovered on wax or streaming in the glow of a dimly lit room, this is Manuel Sahagun doing what he does best: reminding us that dance music, at its core, is about the balance between movement and melody, nostalgia and now.
