A New Kind of Aftermovie

Directed by FINAL KID FILMS founder Charly Friedrichs alongside Spanish editor Victor Eguiguren (Vizitron) and VFX artist JP Caruana, Into Hyperspace rethinks the standard recap video format. Presented as a “Cinematic Hyperreel,” the film is designed as a single immersive watch but structured so each chapter stands on its own for digital sharing. The creative team built a hybrid approach that balances cinematic storytelling with the pace of short-form content, offering multiple ways for fans to revisit the festival.

The narrative opens with an ULTRAnaut piloting a spaceship through hyperspace, guided by archival Ultra footage playing across the dashboard. His destination is locked in as Miami, soundtracked by a remix of deadmau5’s “Ghosts ’n Stuff.” When the ship bursts into the skyline, it takes the form of Ultra’s “U” logo before descending onto the festival’s Main Stage, symbolically landing the aftermovie within the heart of the celebration.

From there, the film cuts into a rapid-fire montage of Ultra’s stages, production design, and packed dancefloors. The Main Stage, RESISTANCE Megastructure, RESISTANCE Cove, Live Stage, and Worldwide Stage are all featured, with performance highlights from Subtronics, Charlotte de Witte, Carl Cox, Solomun, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Gesaffelstein, Four Tet, Skrillex, Tiësto, and many more. The Ultra Angels add another layer of spectacle with choreographed performances woven into the edit.

The Soundtrack and Legacy

The soundtrack plays a central role in the aftermovie’s impact. Mixed by Friedrichs himself, the tracklist moves through a wide spectrum of electronic genres, blending new festival anthems with callbacks to Ultra’s history. A key highlight is the inclusion of Joe Brunning’s “Now Let Me See You Work,” a track tied closely to Carl Cox’s legacy at the festival and a callback to Final Kid’s first Ultra film, Can U Feel It, from 2011. Other selections include Mau P’s “People Talk People Sing,” John Summit’s remix of “Silence,” and collaborations from Armin van Buuren, Pendulum, and Rob Swire.

With this release, Ultra reinforces why its aftermovies have set the standard in the industry for more than a decade. They serve not only as recaps but as cultural documents, bridging past and future while showcasing the energy of the crowd alongside the artistry of the performers. Into Hyperspace continues that tradition with a futuristic spin that mirrors the festival’s ambition to keep pushing boundaries.

As anticipation builds for Ultra’s 26th edition in March 2026, the aftermovie acts as both a celebration of 25 years and a reminder of what makes the event a global centerpiece for electronic music. Fans looking to secure their spot can join the official waitlist now through Ultra’s website.
