We’ve had a close eye on Co-Producer by Output this year. The base plugin earned an Editor’s Choice Award back in April, and further improved it by adding packs from other sample companies, like Black Octopus and Minimal Audio, to their database.
Now, the sample-finding tool has taken everything a step further: today, they’ve introduced the Re-Imagine function, and it might be Co-Producer’s best feature yet.

Originally, if you had searched for a sample in Co-Producer and didn’t fully love what you got, you would have to find an entirely new sample. That’s no longer the case. Now, if a sample doesn’t quite fit what you’re doing, you can hit the Re-Imagine button and change it slightly to get it exactly where you want it to go.
This sounds utopian, but believe me: it works. By ethically training AI on Output’s existing samples, which are already fully cleared and royalty-free, they’ve built an algorithm that can rework & rebuild samples without you having to leave the DAW. You can generate infinite variations of a given sample and find the one that works best for you – all with the click of a button.
Output CEO Gregg Lehrman says that the inspiration for this feature came from finding awesome samples that just aren’t quite right. “Maybe it doesn’t fit the track, maybe it’s been used a thousand times, maybe it gets flagged by YouTube, or maybe it just feels too repetitive when you copy and paste. With Re-imagine, we wanted to keep the soul of real musician-made samples while giving producers the flexibility to make them their own.”
Re-Imagine is available today to all existing owners of Co-Producer. That’s right – it’s a free update. If you still don’t have Co-Producer, you can grab it for $9.99 a month. Trust us: it’s one of the coolest tools you’re ever going to use, and Re-Imagine has only made it worthier to add to your plugin library.
