The EB7 is an upgrade from the brand’s previous iteration (the EB5), and while it adds a bit more weight and a heftier price point than the earlier iterations, it makes up for it in a myriad of other quality-of-life features.

These features include a faster charge time, more wattage delegated to the motor, rear-wheel suspension, better brakes, a life-saving headlight, and much more. And while we could dive into the laundry list of features that the EB7 is stocked with, it’s easy to say that this new and improved model possesses night and day upgrades over not only its previous iterations but also its competitors.

Overall, it’s a great entry-level commuter E-Bike that punches above its weight. It offers many unique features, excellent mobility for getting up steeper hills, and packs up quickly with its travel-friendly size, making it an easy recommendation for many potential customers (but we’ll get to that here shortly). With a general overview, let’s dive into some of my favorite features of this bike.

My Favorite Features Of The EB7 Elite+ Folding Bike

After using this bike extensively over the past month, I found a lot to love. I couldn’t have gotten my hands on this E-Bike at a better time, as we had recently moved out of the city and into a smaller town where everything we needed was perfectly within this bike’s range.

So let’s dive into my three favorite qualities about this bike.

Its Riding Modes

This E-Bike’s unique quality is its three riding modes, which help you maximize the bike’s potential depending on where you’re at and what you’re doing. Whether you’re strapping in for a ride across the city or needing an extra burst of torque to help you get up a steep hill, the three modes offer more control over your ride (and your battery life).

Different gears and modes are indeed becoming more commonplace on standard E-Bikes, but we could see this feature quickly becoming the cherry on top of the cake that suades both serious E-Bikers and those new to the market alike to snag the EB7 Elite+.

Its Size

This was this bike’s most shining quality. The size of the EB7 Elite+ made it incredibly manageable to fit in cars and even larger lockers while on the go.

How it collapses is incredibly user-friendly, unlike many other E-Bikes that feel like you’re assembling an IKEA shelf without instructions whenever you want to use the thing. This was instantly evident the moment we unboxed the bike.

The only thing holding back its complete manageability is the weight of the bike, which I will get to here shortly, but other than that, it’s a fantastic commuter bike that takes up little storage room once you get to your destination.

Its Range

The biggest downfall of almost every E-Bike at this price point is the battery life; most simply need to get you far enough (and back, of course) to make them worth the mid-tier-E-Bike price tag they come with. But the ranging capabilities of the EB7 Elite+ exceed most other of its competitors.

This is mainly due to the larger 6.4Ah battery that allows the bike to cover a range of up to 20 miles instead of the conventional range of roughly 15 miles (give or take a few, of course). And for those looking to cover more territory or for longer commutes, the EB7 Elite+ offers replaceable batteries that effectively double or triple the amount of ground you can cover in a single outing.

What I Wasn’t That Crazy About

After using this E-Bike extensively for about a month, there was a lot to love about it and a few things that could potentially give potential buyers cause for hesitation. Here are the two things that could be improved upon in this bike.

It’s Heavy

Weighing in at 42.3 pounds, it’s not necessarily light. Its petite frame makes the weight double apparent, making this a dense E-Bike.

It wasn’t an issue while in use or even while in storage of course, but when loading the bike into cars and the awkward movements required to move, anything of its size became slightly cumbersome. As a guy in his early 30s in decent shape, this was far from a deal breaker for me. I could maneuver and manage this E-Bike without much struggle. But the bike’s weight is an issue for some.

It’s Not “Pro”

Regarding E-Bikes, there are two unofficial categories that all bikes fall into the “Pro” ones and the “Not Pro” ones. The EB7 Elite+ falls comfortably and confidently into the “Not Pro” category, and I would argue that that’s far from a bad thing. As such, it’s reasonably priced, does what it seeks to do well, and adapts to whatever you need it to do.

But for those looking for a professional commuter bike to rocket them across town or as a dedicated replacement for their car or bike, users might find a better solution in a more premium-level E-Bike. Just expect to pay a substantially higher price point.

Who Is The EB7 Elite+ Bike For?

The accessibility of E-bikes has made vast improvements over the past years, as better and better developments in tech have allowed them to be produced at more affordable price points than ever. And while different E-Bikes serve different functions in different people’s lives, here are the three types of people who would benefit most from the EB7 Elite+.

Commuters

This is an obvious one and certainly more of an umbrella state statement, but if you’re looking for a fast and easy way to commute to work, then the EB7 Elite+ is perfect for you. Its different modes of travel allow you to quickly traverse steep hills and efficiently go for miles over flat pavement. And if you need to catch a bus or two on your way to and from work, its collapsable design can have you on again and off again in just a couple of easy actions.

Producers

With more and more creators and artists moving to cities to pursue their dreams and make a career, fast and affordable transportation has never been more clutch. And with so many of these music producers, musicians, and creators renting small apartments to work their magic, space-saving transportation like the EB7 Elite+ has never been more invaluable.

Students

The rugged durability and range of travel make it ideal for students looking for a faster way to get to campus. An E-Bike like the EB7 Elite+ would have been an absolute game changer during my time at the University of Oregon and would have likely saved me many rain-soaked lectures if I had gotten to class in record time instead of walking.

But also for students, the real benefit of the EB7 Elite+ is its multi-functionality. As it’s a sort of Jack-Of-All-Trades E-Bike, it can serve many different purposes in a student’s life, from getting to campus to working side hustle jobs to even bringing out to the grounds at a music festival. These are all excellent benefits for students to consider when looking into an E-Bike. Be careful not to think too hard, as the EB7 Elite+ is an easy recommendation.
