When Strange Talk released their nu-disco-infused Speech Therapy album in 2021, no one would have expected Gerard Sidhu and Stephen Docker to remix all nine tracks into straight-up club bangers, but that is precisely what they did!
Strange Talk has been making music since 2010 and has seen many similar bands quit after a couple of albums, but Strange Talk has managed to evolve its sound over the years while staying true to its electronic music vision.
Speech Therapy (Remixed) finds the band exploring disco, techno, house, and combinations of these dance music genres to significant effect. The essence of the original tracks still exists, but (Remixed) is an entirely new animal.
“Sunshine” has a fresh disco sound to the remix, “Down Low” leans into a deep house vibe, “Starlight” celebrates the best of what house music is all about, and “Feels Too Much” is a techno dream! “Stick By You” sounds completely different with a tech house groove, and “Drunk On Love”, the most recognizable track from Speech Therapy, is remixed in such a way that it’s almost unrecognizable, in the best way!
This EP is an exciting opportunity for the band to flex their musical muscles, explore new sounds, and solidify why the Melbourne-based duo is here to stay. When Covid took over the world, Strange Talk gave us Speech Therapy, and when the world opened back up, they surprised us with Speech Therapy (Remixed) and gave us another reason to get back on the dancefloor.
