UK producer Wheats has returned to his own BOX RED label with EVERYTHING’S GOOD, a four-track EP released October 30 that continues his interest in bass-heavy house music, tightly programmed percussion, and unconventional electronic sounds. The project features vocal contributions from Ella Turner and Cae, alongside two instrumental productions, and marks his first release on the imprint since SOUL CONTROL in 2024. It arrives after an especially active summer for the producer, with appearances across several Ibiza event series, new music on UNLÍSH and Disorder, and the launch of his own two-day festival on the Isle of Wight.
Wheats has developed a recognizable approach to club production through the relationship between his basslines and smaller rhythmic details. His music frequently incorporates unusual electronic processing, short vocal samples, and percussion patterns that introduce movement around a consistent low-frequency foundation.
Those characteristics have helped establish his presence within underground house, where his records have appeared on labels including Solid Grooves, while his own BOX RED imprint provides an additional outlet for music that reflects his particular production interests.
The timing of EVERYTHING’S GOOD is also worth considering because Wheats has been expanding his responsibilities beyond making and performing music. BOX RED has developed into a platform for releasing other artists’ productions, while the inaugural WYTWOODS festival in July introduced a separate project involving artist programming, event production, and the development of a new music community.
Returning to his own label with four original tracks gives Wheats a chance to focus on his production work after a year of increasingly demanding commitments outside the studio.
EVERYTHING’S GOOD Continues an Established Production Direction
Wheats’ latest EP arrives after a year in which his activities as a producer, DJ, label operator, and festival co-founder have continued developing alongside one another. His Ibiza appearances and releases through UNLÍSH and Disorder have kept him active across international club music, while BOX RED and WYTWOODS provide additional projects through which he can work with other artists.
The four recordings on EVERYTHING’S GOOD concentrate on the bass programming, processed electronic elements, and percussion that have become recurring characteristics of his productions. The inclusion of Ella Turner and Cae introduces different vocal elements, while the remaining instrumental tracks leave greater emphasis on rhythmic programming and sound selection.
That interest in percussion has been part of Wheats’ catalog for several years. Our June 2020 tech house chart included his collaboration with Luuk van Dijk, “U Trippin,” while our August 2021 chart featured “Onset,” his collaboration with Latmun on Solid Grooves Raw. Those earlier recordings connect his current work with several years of activity within underground house music.
For an artist now managing several projects outside the studio, returning to his own label with a four-track EP also reinforces the importance of maintaining a consistent recording schedule. EVERYTHING’S GOOD gives Wheats another opportunity to develop the sound associated with his catalog while continuing the broader growth of BOX RED.
The EP is available now through BOX RED, with “EVERYTHING’S GOOD,” “SHUTDOWN,” “M.U.D,” and “MIND GAMES” comprising the complete release.
