Vuarnet has expanded its Racing collection with two new sport-focused models, the Racing 05 and Racing 07, and the split between the two is pretty clear. One is built for terrain, elevation, and unpredictable outdoor conditions, while the other is built for speed, road training, and lighter performance use.
That difference is important because sport eyewear can get vague fast. A lot of brands talk about protection, clarity, and fit in the same broad way, but Vuarnet’s new Racing models have a more specific purpose behind them. The Racing 05 leans into coverage and visual control for mountain running, alpine training, and longer outdoor efforts. The Racing 07 keeps the frame lighter and cleaner for running, cycling, and daily endurance work.
Vuarnet has always had a real lens story, especially around mountain use, and these two models bring that heritage into more active training formats. The idea is simple enough: take the clarity and protection people associate with alpine environments and put it into frames that can handle movement, sweat, speed, and changing light.
Racing 05 For Mountain Running And Alpine Training

The Racing 05 is the more protective model of the pair. It uses a wraparound frame with high coverage, giving it a better fit for variable terrain where wind, glare, elevation, and light changes can all hit during the same session.
The key detail here is the mineral-glass lens system with a base 9 curve. That curved lens design gives the frame its enveloping feel, while the glass lens construction points to Vuarnet’s higher-end optical approach. For mountain running, alpine training, and long outdoor sessions, that matters because terrain readability can affect pace, confidence, and comfort over time.
The Racing 05 also uses a lightweight nylon frame with rubber grip temple tips, which should help keep the sunglasses locked in during movement. Vuarnet is also positioning the model around UV, infrared, and blue light filtering, which gives it a clear use case for athletes training in sun-heavy, reflective, or high-altitude environments.
Racing 07 For Running And Cycling

The Racing 07 is the faster, leaner option. It has a more streamlined rectangular sport shape, with a high-resistance nylon frame and polycarbonate lenses tuned for clarity, durability, and sun protection. That makes it a better fit for road miles, cycling sessions, and workouts where reduced weight and a secure fit are the main priorities.
The Racing 07 also uses rubberized grip at the temple tips, which helps reduce movement during running or cycling. That sounds like a small detail, but anyone who trains in sunglasses knows how quickly a loose fit becomes annoying once sweat, speed, and repeated movement enter the equation.
What I like about the two-model rollout is that Vuarnet is giving each frame a distinct job. The Racing 05 is the mountain and mixed-condition option. The Racing 07 is the lighter road and endurance option. That keeps the collection easy to understand, and it gives athletes a clearer way to choose based on where they train.
Both models are available now through Vuarnet’s U.S. site.
