German manufacturer Kii Audio just made the kind of move I wish more hardware companies would commit to. Instead of launching a “Mark II” and asking owners to upgrade, the brand has rolled out major DSP and firmware enhancements to its Kii SEVEN active speakers, adding wireless 24-bit/192kHz streaming between paired units and native Qobuz Connect support.

That means if you already own a pair of Kii SEVEN, your system just became more capable without requiring new hardware. If you’re buying in now, you’re getting a fully software-evolved product from day one.

Software-Driven Performance Without Hardware Turnover

The headline feature is wireless 24-bit/192kHz streaming between speakers. For anyone building a streamlined system that eliminates an additional layer of cabling and external components. Add Qobuz Connect support to stream directly from the Qobuz app, bypassing additional boxes.

Kii’s architecture has always been DSP-centric, which is an advantage here. Because the company controls its own signal-processing platform, it can deploy meaningful upgrades via firmware rather than a physical redesign. That approach protects long-term ownership value, which at £7,990 per pair matters.

Co-founder Wim Weijers made it clear that the goal is to enhance existing systems rather than render them obsolete. In a high-end market where revision cycles can feel relentless, that stance carries weight.

Speakers will be on display at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show in Room 102, where visitors can hear the updated performance in a real-world environment.

A New Titanium Finish and a Simplified System Philosophy

Alongside the software upgrades, Kii Audio introduced a new Fine Touch Titanium finish, joining Fine Touch White and Fine Touch Dark Grey. The Titanium option leans modern and understated, aligning with the brand’s minimalist aesthetic.

Kii SEVEN was already positioned as an all-in-one high-end system, and these updates reinforce that identity. With built-in amplification, DSP room optimization tools, and now native streaming enhancements, you can realistically build a complete listening setup with little more than power connections and a streaming subscription.

What stands out to me is the strategic consistency. Kii has always emphasized precision engineering, advanced DS,P and cardioid technology to manage room interaction. These upgrades are not cosmetic. They deepen the integration between hardware and software in a way that feels intentional.

If high-end active speakers are moving toward longer product lifecycles supported by firmware refinement, this is the blueprint. Instead of chasing constant hardware iterations, Kii Audio is refining the platform it already built. For serious listeners who care about performance stability and future-proofing, that is a welcome direction.
