Novation has released version 1.1 of the Launch Control XL 3 firmware, introducing expanded DAW compatibility, deeper hardware control, and a range of workflow-focused refinements. Available now through Novation Components, the update is aimed at producers and performers working across hybrid software and hardware setups.
The update adds native Mackie HUI support, allowing Launch Control XL 3 to integrate directly with DAWs such as Pro Tools, Reaper, and Studio One without additional configuration. Novation says the release also improves MIDI routing flexibility and brings several quality-of-life enhancements designed to make day-to-day use more fluid.
Expanded DAW and MIDI Integration

With HUI support now included, Launch Control XL 3 can communicate more effectively with a wider selection of professional DAWs. This enables direct control of mixer channels and parameters in Pro Tools, Reaper, and Studio One, broadening the controller’s appeal beyond Ableton Live-focused workflows.
The firmware also introduces expanded USB-to-DIN MIDI passthrough, making it easier to merge and filter control data in hybrid setups that combine computers, synths, and external sound modules. Novation has added adjustable encoder acceleration curves, giving users finer control over how quickly parameters respond to knob movement, which is intended to improve precision during both mixing and performance.
Workflow Refinements and Customisation

Several changes in version 1.1 focus on improving usability during live use and studio sessions. A new fader pickup mode prevents sudden jumps in parameter values by requiring faders to match their previous position before taking control. A fader preview function now displays the current parameter value on the Launch Control XL 3’s OLED screen when Shift is held and a fader is moved.
Custom Mode selection has also been streamlined, allowing users to hold the Mode button, choose a layout, and release to confirm. According to Novation, these changes are designed to make switching between control setups faster and more intuitive while reducing the risk of unexpected parameter changes.
The v1.1 firmware update is available now for existing Launch Control XL 3 owners through Novation Components.
