Universal Audio has unveiled the Volt 876 USB Recording Studio, a new 24-in / 28-out rackmount interface designed for professional producers and full-band recording. The interface combines the company’s analog heritage with next-generation 32-bit / 192 kHz digital conversion, delivering the same attention to tone and detail that defines UA’s Apollo line but at a more accessible price point of $999 USD.

Built with eight Vintage mic preamps and classic 1176-style compressors on every channel, the Volt 876 brings the character of Universal Audio’s legendary 610 console and 1176 limiter to a compact USB interface for Mac, PC, iPad, and iPhone. Designed as a complete system, it integrates directly with UA’s LUNA Digital Audio Workstation, offering AI-assisted tools, instant session recall, and plug-in control across hardware and software.

A Complete USB Recording Studio

The Volt 876 features the kind of signal chain flexibility typically found in higher-end setups. Each of its eight analog inputs includes a dedicated Vintage mic preamp and an analog compressor modeled after the 1176. The converters deliver 32-bit / 192 kHz resolution, while ADAT I/O supports expansion with up to three Volt 876 units or integration with Apollo interfaces.

Included with the interface is the UAD Producer Suite, featuring plug-ins such as the Teletronix LA-2A, UA 1176, Pultec EQP-1A, PolyMAX Synth, and Showtime ’64 Guitar Amp. Combined with the LUNA DAW, which now includes AI-driven features like Voice Control, Instrument Detection, and Tempo Listen, the Volt 876 offers a unified ecosystem for recording, editing, and mixing.

Analog Character, Digital Efficiency

According to Universal Audio CEO Bill Putnam Jr., the goal behind the Volt 876 was to make the company’s classic studio sound available to a broader audience of creators. The design focuses on fast, push-button tone shaping and immediate integration with UA’s software tools. With built-in talkback, low-latency cue mixes, and remote control through the UAD Console app, the Volt 876 is equally suited for collaborative band sessions and solo production environments.
