BAKKIS keeps it lean and locked-in on H.P.S., the second single on his newly minted label, Okada Records. It’s a hypnotic, stripped-back cut built around a spoken vocal that lands somewhere between offhand swagger and late-night confessional — think The Streets but filtered through a murky house lens.

Following the percussive throb of debut release Inna Fire, which picked up early support from Jamie Jones, MK, Claptone and Marco Carola, this one dials deeper into BAKKIS’s minimalist instincts. There’s no fat on the mix, just a steady, groove-led pulse and enough atmosphere to keep it tense without tipping over.

A regular on Dumb Safari and co-founder of the artist-led R-Trybe platform (alongside Huxley and Ramin Rezaie), BAKKIS has been quietly building out a sound rooted in restraint, swing, and intention. H.P.S. doesn’t shout for attention, but it doesn’t need to. It knows exactly where it’s going.
