ASHRR – Deux Sons (ASHRR Soundsystem Version) [20/20 Vision Recordings]
When ASHRR released their album Sunshine Low in 2024, I wouldn’t have guessed we would still be hearing new versions of the songs, remixed by the band themselves under the ASHRR Soundsystem moniker. “Deux Sons” has a trippy, West Coast vibe that is undeniably ASHRR, but this slightly faster version sounds just right to chill out to on those hot summer nights.
Black Loops – Electrical feat. Marlena Dae [Freerange Records]
Italian producer Black Loops has been around for over a decade, but he finally released his first full-length LP called Always Moving this May. Featuring the seductive vocals of Berlin’s Marlena Dae, “Electrical” takes influences from 90s house music and perfectly blends them with disco, creating a nu-disco sound for a modern audience.
Mark Lower – Endlessly feat. Dyanna Fearon [Tinted Records]
Mark Lower has been producing classic disco/house tracks since he was a teenager, and age has certainly added experience to his ever-expanding talents as a musician! On “Endlessly,” Lower has employed the formidable talent of vocalist Dyanna Fearon, and together they have created a polished disco track that will keep you coming back for more!
Heritage Listed – Feelin It [Basics Recording]
Change in anyone’s life can be challenging, and when Heritage Listed made the move from Barcelona to Amsterdam, there were certainly growing pains, but the result is the fantastic 5-track EP Feelin It, a sun-soaked, joyful journey through the disco landscape. The title track “Feelin It” embodies this artist’s happiness, and that feeling can be heard on each track!
Save The Robots – Under The Stairs [Disco Freak Records]
Save The Robots (Robbie Dunn) is a disco machine with the amount of content he has been producing in the last couple of years, some on his own, and even more with producer Winkar. “Under The Stairs” is a solo effort, and the disco flows generously through the track. The track is funky and breezy at the same time, so I don’t care if you listen to it under the stairs or not, just listen to it!
PREP – Call It feat. Eddie Chacon (Turbotito Remix) [How Do You Are?/Too Slow To Disco]
Are you ready for all of the daytime disco you can handle? That comes in July with the star-packed The Sunset Manifesto Volume 2 compilation on Too Slow To Disco Neo, and in May, we got our first teaser track from the Marina Pop band PREP feat. Eddie Chacon, “Call It”, with a fab, slightly more uptempo remix by Turbotito. This song is a great introduction to what to expect from this stellar compilation!
Lukus – Love Endeavour [Apparel Music]
On his first solo project after being part of the duo SRWN, Lukus is coming in hot with his “Love Endeavour” EP! The title track is a slow burn, starting with a sample about hell and culminating with the sexy disco sounds of a woman in ecstasy, honoring the late great Donna Summer and her contemporaries of the 1970s. You may need a little private time when this track is on!
Situation – Bullit feat. Javonntte [Situationism]
OMG, I love jazz flute! The Situation collective is back with their 9-track LP Audio Proxemics, but “Bullit” is the focus in May. Featuring Javonntte, this track is such a love letter to early 70s films, dripping with funk and attitude…did I mention the flute!? This entire LP is definitely worth a listen!
Moon Boots – Sunshine (Extended Mix) feat. Lyric Jones [Fools Gold Records]
Moon Boots returns to form with a classic nu-disco track perfectly crafted for summer: “Sunshine.” Lyric Jones provides the sexy, breezy vocals that beg the listener to throw on some flip-flops, spray down with sunscreen, grab a drink, and head into the sunshine! The couple in the song is certainly doing just that! Check it out on Fools Gold Records!
Doug Willis & Mike Dunn – Luv 2 Dance [Z Records]
Doug Willis and Mike Dunn love to dance, and so do we, listening to “Luv 2 Dance”! Getting label support from Dave Lee’s Z Records, this track is funky and soulful, with a house-driven rap vocal and modern disco sensibilities in the melody. It is a guaranteed party starter!
SG Lewis – Back Of My Mind [Jasmine Music LTD.]
SG Lewis has been burning up the clubs for the last year with Tove Lo and Nelly Furtado, but “Back Of My Mind” shifts its focus to a more chill, nu-disco vibe. Lewis has said the track was written about grief in all forms and the catharsis that music can provide. The track also features Lewis on vocals, which gives the track a personal feel, which is what we can expect from his upcoming LP.
Disco Elétrico – Funky Train (Radio Edit) [Dualism Records]
Disco Elétrico (aka Derek Wootton) is here this May with a nice little disco banger called “Funky Train”. Every aspect of this track honors the best of 1970s disco and funk while maintaining a modern, almost chill vibe. The lyric encourages us to come aboard the funky train, and I know that’s where I want to go!
The Loneliest Hunk – Claviee [Sundries]
The Loneliest Hunk is new to this chart, but hopefully, this won’t be the last time we hear from this talented artist! “Claviee” is a groovy little disco number that will have you throwing your hands in the air and shaking what your mama gave ya!
Da Chick – Eu Queria [Mostly Groovy]
Da Chick has a written a song so lovely, I am going to let the lyrics speak for themselves: I wanted/I found you, but it took a while/More than a day/It was ok the Earth rotated/But now that I’ve found you/I’m going to wake up/It was you in the dream I dreamed/Adrift at sea/I wanted/Know if you will stay/Until it is day/And the sun begins to burn/The passion I feel for you/It makes me delirious/Send me very sweet water/I’m adrift at sea/I got lost at sea dreaming of you babe/But tell me, are you even real?/You just seem too good to be true/But if you are… please come rescue me/Adrift at sea/I wanted/One more day/Adrift at sea
Cerrone & Christine and the Queens – Catching Feelings [Malligator/Because Music]
“Catching Feelings” is a dream collaboration between Cerrone & Christine and the Queens. The song is a disco pop masterpiece from one of the hottest performers of the modern era and a bona fide disco godfather! This duo met and performed at the Paris Olympics Ceremony and realized they needed to collaborate, so let’s look forward to their upcoming 4-track EP!
