Liv Ravden’s got momentum right now—both behind the decks and in the studio. After making her mark with groove-focused sets at venues like KOKO and the Jazz Cafe, and an early career that included a stint in Les Misérables on the West End, the UK-based DJ/producer is showing she can bring that same sense of pacing and progression into her productions. Her new EP Night Shift, out now on June 27 via Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion label, taps into that live sensibility with three cuts aimed squarely at dancers who stay until the lights come up.

The EP is a tight, functional listen that also feels personal. In her own words: “This EP is the first time I’ve really felt like my sound has come together.” It leans on the house music she grew up with, but with clear attention to what actually works in a set. There’s no filler, no overproduction—just stripped-back grooves and restrained energy across the board.

Late-Night Pressure with a Live DJ’s Ear

‘Phase Out’ leads the pack with a slow-build rhythm and smart percussion that never forces the moment. The track’s warm undercurrent gives it DJ utility without sacrificing feel. ‘Low Tide’ dials things back further, built around airy vocal chops and smooth, low-end movement that feels right for early set transitions or those drifting between genres. It’s not trying to grab attention—it’s trying to keep the room moving.

Closing cut ‘3am Thoughts’ does exactly what the title suggests. There’s a reflective mood to the arrangement, with subdued pads and spacious drum programming pulling the tempo inward without losing shape. The mix feels engineered for that final third of the night, when it’s less about hooks and more about holding the floor with intent.

This is a smart signing for Rebellion—Liv Ravden brings a clear voice and a functional edge that slots right into the label’s catalog without sounding like a rehash. With a debut at Belgium’s We Can Dance festival on the horizon and on warm-up duties for Mochakk, the timing on this one couldn’t be better.
