Jorn Pricez has hit some significant career milestones since his early beginnings.

With roots in Belgium’s music culture, Pricez’s journey into house music was sparked at a young age by viewing a DVD (which is a far-from-common way to get into this industry, but it makes sense once you read more). This experience ignited a passion for dance music that grew stronger. As he recounts, the blend of trance music, visuals, and the audience left a lasting impression, setting him on a path that has led to where he is today.

Belgium’s music scene has played a crucial role in shaping Pricez’s sound, mainly partly because the country’s quick adoption of various musical styles allowed him to explore and experiment before settling on house music. By immersing himself in the house music community, Pricez quickly built connections with other DJs and producers, fostering collaborations that have influenced his production techniques and musical style.

His latest track, “Speaking,” reflects this journey and his evolution as an artist.

This track, infused with classic house elements, represents his renewed vigor and commitment to his craft. To celebrate the release and to help bring it and him the attention it deserves, we invited Jorn Pricez on to chat about his journey as an artist, what inspires him most about house music, and to offer some advice for those looking to follow in his footsteps.

An Interview With Jorn Pricez

What initially drew you to the world of electronic music and specifically to house music?

It all started at a very young age when my big brother showed me a DVD of Tiesto’s first tour. I found the trance music combined with an amazing show and audience to be a fantastic combination, something I hadn’t seen before. Soon, I started DJing myself, and the adventure began, which still continues to this day. »

How have your Belgian roots influenced your music style and production techniques?

Over the years, music has changed a lot. DJs began to opt increasingly for styles that offered broad possibilities for creative expression. This change happened particularly quickly in Belgium. After experimenting with different styles for years, I found that House music resonated with me the most. By choosing a specific style, I quickly connected with many DJs and producers who were in tune with me. »

Your track ‘Speaking’ has a ton of classic house elements; what inspired this particular creation?

My new track marks a return in my career after having had major shoulder surgery, and subsequent rehabilitation over an extended period. Due to these circumstances, it has been a while since new music has emerged from me. So with my new release, I wanted to showcase something that fully represents the new me: a powerful song with a message about my favorite style. »

You’ve achieved notable success early in your career; to what do you attribute this rapid ascent in the electronic music scene?

I am indeed lucky that the first successes didn’t take long to materialize. Back in 2013, I played at a major festival for the first time. Officially, I was only scheduled to perform once, but it turned into three times in one weekend.

At that time, it was still very unique for someone of a young age to play on such stages. My performances during that weekend were followed by significant attention in local and social media. My conspicuous presence in the media caught the attention of a major multimedia company with multiple television channels and radio stations in Flanders, which helped kickstart my career and provided me with numerous opportunities to expand my horizons and develop as an artist. »

What was the concept behind The Ibiza Party BE, and how did you feel about its success?

In 2021, after the first lockdowns due to the worldwide pandemic, I felt it was time for a unique challenge. I had always wanted to organize an event on a larger scale and saw that people were craving an epic party. I saw this as a fantastic opportunity to set up a new event concept. After approaching the right people, a small team was formed for a lit evening with House DJs. Soon, my vision evolved to taking people with me on a trip to Ibiza and introducing them to the island’s magic. The concept was formed by palm trees, unique dancers, and a journey through the island’s best musical years.

The first event for a solid thousand people sold out in just three weeks. On October 16, the doors of the Ibiza concept opened for the first time. Due to its great success, a festival edition was planned for the following summer, on the weekend I turned 21, with residents from the biggest clubs in Ibiza. It was an amazing adventure filled with many beautiful moments! »

Looking toward the future, where do you see yourself in the next five years, both artistically and personally?

I am sure that in five years, I’ll keep bringing my musical A game with just as much passion as today. It would be amazing if international bookings increased, and I could showcase my musical creations in many more beautiful places around the world. »

What is the most important piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in music production?

Find your own voice, create something you like and enjoy and can surprise others with. Be your unique self and keep believing in it because every day, sometimes without realizing it, you take the next step forward! »
