There’s a niche group of DJs flipping the script regarding electronic music. Forget just beats and drops; these DJs are merging humor with rhythm. On platforms like Instagram and TikTok, they deliver more than just music—they’re dropping punchlines. Think TVBOO’s stand-up comedy skills or FISHER’s online banter.

But it’s not limited to social media. Some of these DJs are as comfortable in a comedy club as they are behind the decks. Whether it’s genre-defying spoof tracks or laugh-inducing dance moves, they’re defying conventions and challenging mainstream norms. In this unique intersection of electronic music and comedy, DJs collaborate with comedians to produce content that’ll get you dancing and laughing. And that’s the kind of disruption the electronic music scene didn’t know it needed.

(Honorable Mention) Juelz

Before the top 20 begins, we wanted to spotlight Juelz, who deserves a shoutout. He has risen to become one of the top producers in his surrounding subgenre of electronic music, supporting a fusion of trap and dubstep as his signature style. He is also pretty hilarious behind the decks, as seen in many of the clips he posts. The clip above proves he is not afraid to mess around during his sets, as long as the crowd gets a kick out of it.

Even though it is not as much him being funny and more so the situation, another classic video is when his entire setup falls over during a performance.

Lastly, before this list starts, if you are hunting for hilarious online personalities who are simultaneously up-and-coming DJs and producers, you should check out @jakkob__ and @gz00m on Instagram.

20) CHYL

Speed house breakout artist CHYL has a unique brand and approach to humor. She often posts wacky clips to promote her new releases or upcoming shows. This has proven very effective, and she is someone up-and-coming artists should look up to, especially in building an outside-the-box identity around one’s project.

19) Mau P

Mau P has rapidly become a global superstar in house and techno in the past year. Following the release of his debut single, “Drugs From Amsterdam,” which dominated the #1 position on Beatport for consecutive weeks, Mau P has maintained a consistent streak of delivering outstanding tech house and techno hits.

He also has a streak when it comes to his hilarious Instagram captions, boasting witty humor that is always perfect for the occasion.

Despite his tracks being absolute bangers, he doesn’t hold back regarding comedic elements in his productions, such as moaning and potentially real-life sex frequencies in his recent hit “Your Mind Is Dirty.”

18) John Summit

After years of dedication, dropping electrifying tracks, and relentless partying, John Summit has reached the summit of the contemporary house and techno scene. Under his rebranded label, Experts Only, previously known as Off The Grid, the label’s inaugural two releases have notched the #1 and #2 positions on Beatport’s worldwide charts.

On top of his iconic rise as an artist, John is known for being a clown while performing at times. He is a big supporter of downing entire bottles of tequila, blacking out, “accidentally” eating mushrooms before his sets (at a Croatia boat party last year), wearing his shades upside down, posting fans Ike (from South Park) memes of himself, and shouting “let’s f*cking go baby!” in the double-digits of every performance. His Twitter is packed with comedic, unfiltered thoughts and is worth scrolling through.

17) Four Tet

Up there with deadmau5 on the discussion of electronic music’s most giant trolls, Four Tet can be a menace when you least expect it. A prime example is when he played “Country Riddim” by HOL! during his Coachella set with Fred Again.. and Skrillex.

This wasn’t too far after he had played a remix of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” which, if you know, Kieran is a troll in itself.

16) OMNOM

OMNOM was more the underground side of house music, a regular on Dirtybird and other labels pushing sound design’s boundaries. That was before his latest single with Odd Mob, “Losing Control,” went #1 on Beatport and has been played everywhere and by everyone for the last month.

Now OMNOM has more exposure for his sense of humor. Like Summit, he has a funny Twitter account and makes absurd content.

15) SIDEPIECE

The first duo to hit this list, SIDEPIECE takes two goofy personalities in Party Favor and NITTI and melts their style of comedy together. This tech house-fueled pair seems always to be joking around and having a blast, feeding off each other’s energy. In an old Instagram reel, they tally how many times Party Favor slaps NITTI’s butt while they are performing.

Like many of their others, the clip below sheds light on funny things that happen when they are mixing, maybe exaggerating just a bit. They also do hilarious skits like this one promoting their Homerun tour. A fan-favorite is their recent video showcasing the top 3 mashups SIDEPIECE received this year.

14) Disco Lines

Witness just one of his sets, and you will realize that Disco Lines is quite a character. He occasionally collaborates with Friday Beers, the fastest-rising comedic group of actors and creatives right now, that has viewers rolling around the floor in tears. Check out this skit below to see if the hype is real surrounding Disco Lines’ comedic nature.

On the opposing side of this type of crossover is Cody Ko, a comedian and well-known online personality who has shown potential as a DJ and producer. His funky tech house tracks have hilarious lyrics, and his newest release, “Bop It”, encompasses comedic mayhem. Watch the Cody Ko and Friday Beers collaboration below for a Dillon Francis cameo.

13) Boogie T

Shockingly, Boogie T is the first bass-focused act that appeared. But there are plenty more to come. It seems justifiable that the artists who produce the wonkiest sounds are often the funniest. Boogie T is known for yelling the most random phrases into the mic while performing, no matter how big the festival. His goofiness and lighthearted attitude is contagious.

12) deadmau5

From the brilliant mind of Ontario-born Canadian Joel Zimmerman, deadmau5 has earned a place in electronic music’s Hall of Fame. In addition to his highly successful career, he has also evolved into the king of trolls. Probably his most iconic troll is of Martin Garrix’s “Animals” at Ultra Music Festival in 2014.

He tends to do this a reasonable amount, whether in his sets or on social media and is fearless when calling DJs out. There has been a lot of controversy over his trolling activities, with many music fans getting offended and coming to the defense of the artists that he has trolled. Ultimately, we should learn not to take his jokes too seriously, as it is all good fun to make people laugh.

11) YOOKiE

Approaching the top 10, YOOKiE is right on the cusp with their objectively funny personalities. These heavy bass-making twin brothers are always messing around; look at their Spotify header picture. Similar to deadmau5, their audience has to be ready to be trolled at any time, as seen in one of their sets in August. Additionally, they shout pretty out-of-pocket things into the mic while performing, basically whatever comes to mind.

10) AVELLO

For those unfamiliar, AVELLO, also known as Adam Lawrence, is an emerging electronic music producer, songwriter, and DJ based in Orlando. AVELLO has performed alongside renowned acts like Excision, Slander, and Seven Lions and secured label placements with Bassrush, Lost In Dreams, and Subsidia. His upward trajectory continues, with appearances at major festivals such as EDC Orlando, Corona Electric Beach, and Forbidden Kingdom.

With a dynamic approach to bass music, AVELLO has quickly gained recognition in the industry. Likewise, he has gained recognition for his spot-on comedic clips that poke fun at the types of people you meet at the festival. AVELLO’s content is super relatable and hilarious for DJs and producers, but he also makes videos for ordinary ravers.

9) Luca Lush

Undoubtedly one of the funniest DJs in the game, Luca Lush, makes various wild videos related to raving and electronic music. He has a couple of different series that he runs on his social media platforms. One is centered around “What if BLANK was techno?”.

He will either take another genre, person, or other component and transform it into a techno track. Luca even replaced John Summit and Hayla’s “Where You Are” vocals with a Squidward AI voice.

8) TVBOO

As a legitimate comedian, TVBOO is a mixed bag of talent. His wub-filled basslines and ground-shaking bass drops have led to playing at some of the most prominent festivals across North America. His songs usually catch listeners off guard by unleashing completely random lyrics before the drop.

As his Spotify bio says, TVBOO has “a personality larger than an eighteen-wheeler dump truck”. This is evident when watching his TVLKS with TVBOO podcast. The uncensored show is chaotic, features entertaining guests, and no subject is off limits.

7) DIESEL

This artist requires minimal explanation on why he is near the peak of this countdown. It doesn’t matter what sector Shaq is in; whether he is roasting Chuck on ESPN or performing in front of 30,000 people, he never fails to bring his comedic, fun-loving personality into the mix.

DIESEL recently appeared on Bobbi Althoff’s podcast and was so on point with his humor that she broke character a few times.

DIESEL is somewhat of a walking meme in dance music, yet he also delivers electrifying sets and emphatic dubstep bangers.

6) Eliminate

First, it is essential to note that Eliminate is an insanely gifted and innovative DJ-producer hybrid. He is so innovative that he makes complete YouTube breakdowns of making tracks using the most ridiculous samples, objects, and sounds he can find.

Surprisingly, he can make good music a solid amount of the time by manipulating these noises. Among his highlights are ‘Turning My Cat’s Meow Into Dubstep’, ‘Making A Song Out Of Every Michael Jackson Grunt’, and the hysterical video below.

5) Getter

The video above says it all. Getter is one of the top dogs in the electronic music-comedy crossover space. His jokes hit just as hard as his bone-rattling dubstep.

4) FISHER

The entire electronic music and rave community would have lost its mind if FISHER hadn’t landed in the top 5. FISHER is an absolute nut job, And for this, we adore him. His famous song “Losing It” perfectly encapsulates his personality; the man is out of his tree in the best way possible. His Australian-esque style of comedy will have you changing out your pants after watching just a few clips.

On top of being a comedic gem, FISHER’s on-stage energy is unmatched. He is his own hype man and garners some of the best crowd reactions across the music festival landscape. This creative genius utilizes his wacky humor to promote his new songs, touring, and residencies.

3) Salvatore Ganacci

Salvatore Ganacci is a name synonymous with laughter in the electronic music realm. His performances are nothing short of a comedy act, and here is why he’s considered comedy royalty in the scene:

First, his audacious habit of mocking his intro. In an unexpected and bold move, Salvatore stands in the crowd and playfully boos his introduction. This delightful twist left the audience in stitches.

Then there are the deck calisthenics. Mid-set, he’s been known to lay around the decks and break into spontaneous calisthenics routines. This unpredictable display of physical comedy adds a unique dimension to his shows.

Third has to be his outrageous music videos. Salvatore’s music videos are a goldmine of humor, featuring absurd and over-the-top scenarios that mirror his offbeat humor.

But it is not just his off-stage antics. During one unforgettable performance, Salvatore sprinted around an entire auditorium, leaving the audience in laughter. His boundless energy and zany antics turn every show into a memorable comedy performance.

Salvatore’s ability to seamlessly blend humor into his music and live acts makes him one of the funniest DJs in the electronic music world. His brand of comedy is as much a part of his act as the music itself, making him a must-see for anyone looking to have a good laugh on the dance floor.

2) Marc Ribillet

While his project probably revolves the least around electronic music, this musical comedy improviser is a one-of-a-kind and unapologetically funny artist. He is candid that his content may not be for everyone, but that is precisely what makes him stand out. Marc skyrocketed to international fame in months from his humble beginnings, thanks to his unconventional humor and musical talent.

Rebillet’s videos, typically shot in his bedroom or live-streamed for hours on end, showcase his ability to improvise music with a keyboard, voice, and looped instruments. The results are not only hilarious but also incredibly well-produced. His content balances sophomoric, silly humor and genuine musical prowess. With over 2 Million YouTube subscribers and 2.7 Million Facebook followers, Rebillet’s fusion of comedy and music has resulted in a dedicated fan base.

What sets Rebillet apart is his commitment to improvisation. His live shows are entirely made up on the spot, with no setlist to follow. He doesn’t just play existing songs; his performances are 100% improvised, making each show a unique experience.

1) Dillon Francis

The GOAT of comedy in electronic music is taking our top spot, Dillon Francis. Since there are so many examples and reasons showcasing why Dillon is hilarious and incredibly skilled at what he does, it makes the most sense to give him his own top 5 countdown:

  • Game-Changing Moves: Dillon Francis’s transition from a minor oddity to a globe-spanning favorite was swift. His journey from humble beginnings to headlining major festivals in just a few months reflects his dedication to making waves in the music industry.
  • Social Media Mastery: With over 3 Million Instagram followers, Dillon Francis’s influence extends beyond music. He’s the dance music-based social media and entertainment champion, with remarkable adaptability, exploring Instagram stories, IGTV, and making strides on Hulu and Netflix.
  • Comedic Collaborations: Dillon Francis doesn’t limit his humor to the stage. He partners with superstars like Valentino Khan and Diplo (both hilarious and honorable mention additions) to create tear-jerking skits, adding a touch of comedy to the scene.
  • Music and Comedy Fusion: The core of Dillon’s comedy is his ability to blend humor with music seamlessly. Whether it is the viral trend of asking strangers to film him or celebrating the infamous 4/20 holiday, he finds ways to entertain and make people laugh.
  • Redefining Social Media: Dillon Francis doesn’t just ride the social media wave; he reshapes it. His satirical comedy with Netflix, Like, and Subscribe highlights his wit, as does his portrayal of Diplo’s best friend on Viceland’s What Would Diplo Do?

His purchase of djsnake.com and his online persona, Gerald, the inanimate booty-loving sidekick, demonstrates his unique and entertaining approach to the digital world.

Plus, DJ Hanzel is a laugh riot that also puts out good music.
