Dutch producer, Baril, makes a triumphant return to Intercept Records with his debut album, “For You, Forever”, consisting of nine captivating tracks, breaking into the realm of ambient, breakbeat, UK Garage and deep house. The album kicks off with “Eyes Open”, a slow-burning track filled with tension, featuring ethereal female vocals and evocative synth chords. Several tracks on the album showcase a variety of soothing female vocals, such as “Are You With Me”, “Feel This Way”, and “Never Leave Me”, just to name a few. The breakbeat patterns woven throughout “For You, Forever” immediately captivate, showcasing the producers impeccable ear for groove.
“Are You With Me” presents catchy vocal melodies that contrast the more meditative and soothing tones of “Forever”. Each track carries a dream-like aura, subtly shifting direction with the more lively and house-driven song, “Stay”. “Never Leave Me” slows down the tempo, infusing a touch of hip-hop vibes and providing space for Rnb vocals to shine. Despite the diverse range of genres explored, Baril seamlessly weaves them together, creating deeply emotive undertones that resonate throughout the album.
On his creative thought process behind the album, Baril proclaims:“I wanted to make an album that felt really personal to me. Therefore I really thought about what I find important when listening to electronic music. It had to feel energetic, yet also melancholic. Something you could listen to with your eyes closed on the couch, but also something you could dance to when hearing it live. It had to feel sweet, but also tough. Make you laugh or cry.”
