You can listen to music anytime in an almost limitless capacity. Since it’s become more accessible and attention spans have decreased, songs have gotten shorter and the value of projects has weakened as well. But how you would feel if you could hear a project full of new music all blended into one giant song?
For LA rap duo, Cashus King and Blu, their new EP, The Blu(e) Tape, takes several original songs arranges them the way an author would arrange a book, and then condenses them into chapters.

Conceived as a collaborative effort between the two longtime friends, the album pays homage to rapper Blu’s moniker while also paying homage to the iconic rap duo of Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, whose project Only Built 4 Cuban Linx sported a novel purple cassette cover.
Longtime friends for a little over a decade stood alongside as the other raised California’s banner higher with their seminal works Before I Awoke and Below the Heavens. Over time, Blu’s individual star led to increased attention and acclaim, but rather than alienating the two, it led to a more organic and natural working relationship between them both.
13 minutes in total, the EP’s standout songs include cuts such as “Tru(e) Blu(e)”, “Measurements of Rain”, “Circa 2009”, and “He is Blu(e)”, but you’d be hardpressed to find a favorite song.
Cohesive and competitive, the EP allows both men to showcase their skills and provide their fans with enough bars and beats to beat the blues. For Cashus, who’s coming off a stellar year with his critically acclaimed album, The Weight of Wind, the Blu(e) Tape is his chance to elevate his name and reintroduce him to others.
To further commemorate the project, the duo is offering customized merchandise including autographed cassette tapes in limited amounts and more.
