Daily Bread’s music has always carried traces of Atlanta. On Vanishing Point, however, Rhett Whatley brings that relationship closer to the surface, pairing the sampling and groove-driven production that have long defined his project with voices directly connected to his hometown’s hip-hop community.
Across 13 tracks, the new studio album brings Jonah Cruzz, Kyle Lucas, STS, and Obeah into Daily Bread’s electronic world while continuing to explore the combination of vintage electro soul, glitch-hop, hip-hop, and bass music behind his rise.
A Wider View of the Daily Bread Sound
Rather than treating collaboration as an occasional feature, Vanishing Point uses different vocalists and styles to continually alter the character of the record.
“Working The Plan” places Jonah Cruzz over a fluid combination of hip-hop rhythms and groovy electronic production. Kyle Lucas and STS appear together on “Strange Love,” with STS returning later for “Beautiful But Dangerous.” On “Breathwork,” Obeah’s hypnotic rhymes settle into punchy drums and crisp claps, adding another distinct cadence to the middle of the album.
Those performances strengthen an influence that has existed throughout Daily Bread’s catalog for years. Hip-hop has consistently informed his approach to rhythm, sampling, and arrangement, but “Vanishing Point” allows that relationship to become more explicit without abandoning the electro-soul and bass-driven elements surrounding it.
The album’s broader theme is rooted in movement. Whatley likens the vanishing point to a destination on the horizon that continually moves farther away as you approach it, using that image to reflect on the memories left behind, the uncertainty ahead, and the experiences accumulated in between.
That perspective gives the tracklist room to move emotionally as well as stylistically. Opener “Repeat Message” combines soulful samples with cosmic effects and wobbled low-end, while “Soaring In The Sky” and “Til The Sun Burns Out” provide familiar reference points within the project. “Lonely Dreams” looks further backward, repurposing a classic-sounding sample through modern production, before the airy vocals of “Waves At Sunset” create one of the record’s lighter passages.
The closing stretch ultimately brings the album back toward the stage. “A Long Time,” created alongside Late Night Radio, combines grimy bass, pitched-up vocals, and deeper hip-hop passages in a finale with clear festival utility.
That connection between studio and live performance will become increasingly visible this fall. Daily Bread’s 28-date “Vanishing Point” Tour begins November 5 and includes stops at Chicago’s Salt Shed, Brooklyn Steel, Boston’s Roadrunner, Washington, D.C.’s Echostage, Nashville’s The Pinnacle, and two nights at Portland’s REALM. For Daily Bread, Vanishing Point is less a departure from his established sound than a broader view of everything already inside it, with Atlanta hip-hop and modern bass production occupying the same road forward.

Within the first month of attending Florida State University and meeting some new friends, I was introduced to the rave scene. After seeing Ekali at my first show, I was instantly hooked. Since then, I have dived into every subgenre of electronic music, picked up DJing, and mixed for clubs and different entertainment events in Tallahassee. Once graduating with degrees in marketing and hospitality, I was hired for a sales position. However, I recently decided to leave my sales job to pursue my dream of working in the music industry. My favorite festivals are Hulaween (by far), EDC Orlando, and all the different venues during Miami Music Week.
