Tell It with a Song: White Dove Uses Music to Raise Awareness on Wars and Their Impact

Music has always been a powerful tool for raising awareness about pressing social issues. No one can forget the Live Aid event organized by Bob Geldof in just 10 weeks that featured 75 acts. At the time, it was important for these artists to join together to fundraise and bring attention to Ethiopia’s famine, and it is this same mentality — to bring awareness through music — that the anonymous artist known only as “White Dove” creates and shares her music.

White Dove is a musician and artist dedicated to creating stunning music that raises awareness about global issues that leave a lasting impression. With two released singles, she explores famine, poverty, human trafficking, and war in her music. As a medic, she saw the need for someone to speak up for those who can’t; for those who don’t have a platform. She is committed to raising awareness and combating wars and their impact on individuals.

Turning the horrors of war into the beauty of song

Having lived in six countries and observing the injustices war wrecks on whole nations and individuals, White Dove hopes to be the voice for those who need it. She wants to reach out to those who may feel isolated and hopeless, offering a hand of solidarity and a message of comfort.

“Stay beautiful, and don’t let this cold world change you,” White Dove assures her listeners, knowing firsthand how terrible this world can be. While traveling overseas, she saw how affected children were by war, having to fend for themselves after their parents were killed by radicals and begging for mercy from anyone who would listen. And while these things can happen in any country, they are always exacerbated in war-torn regions.

“The world is so dark,” White Dove says, “but I noticed that despite [the children’s] misery, they were trying to smile and play.” With that image in mind, she continues on this mission for their sake.

White Dove owns her recording studio and has worked with the same people for years. With her ability to speak five languages, she is committed to creating a program where people from all over the world who have suffered abuse can reach out and request a song for her to create for them. These songs can be dedicated to someone or be a message to deliver in which White Dove will write and perform the song, including the requester’s name. She then filters through each request to ensure it matches the mission of her work.

Creating hope out of anonymity

White Dove is adamant about remaining anonymous so that people pay attention to the message behind the music and not her. “God gave me the gift to sing, and I will use it for those the world can’t see and understand,” she says, noting how she was raised with humility being the core value of her upbringing and believes that when God gives, people should give back. “You may not see my face, but you’ll live within my music.”

That anonymity is the driving force that accentuates White Dove’s moving music. She is not interested in fame or recognition, only in making a difference in the world. This is why she writes and creates music to inspire and bring hope to those suffering and raise awareness about the issues that impact people across the globe.

While in East Africa on a religious mission, White Dove — and many other nearby villagers — were hit by a grenade blast. After drifting in and out of consciousness, she eventually found herself in an unequipped hospital ward surrounded by mostly children. As she recovered from the explosion, she helped those children to the best of her ability using her medical background while she sang, prompting one 5-year-old child to address her as, Karawan, meaning “white dove.” It was then that she realized her life’s mission: to be their White Dove and spread awareness and peace to this world.

Through her music, White Dove hopes to inspire people to take action and make a positive difference in the world. Her message is clear: everyone can make a difference, and music is a powerful way to inspire change. Her lyrics are authentic and heartfelt, born from the real experiences of those requesting her aid.
