Techno is a genre of electronic music with a long history. Originating from German electro-pop and American house music in the 1970s and 1980s, it has enthralled listeners globally. Atlanta’s own Sam WOLFE is now leading the next chapter in Techno’s evolution.

Making a splash in 2020, WOLFE has honed its unique brand of electrifying and mesmerizing Techno. With hit tracks like “Adrenaline Machine” and “Prison Break,” WOLFE was quickly snapped up by Beatport’s #1 all-time ranked techno producer, UMEK. With his song “Psalm 39” featured on UMEK’s 1605 imprint, WOLFE has also released tracks on top labels such as Purified, Phobia, Senso Sounds, and others.

The First track on the EP, ‘Out of Phase,” is a late-night techno demolish derby. Pulsating bass lines and grizzled synth stabs make for a peak listening experience, no matter where you’re tuning in. The synthetic elements for the foundation of the roller from where the bright and dazzling percussive elements continue to add energy and momentum to the groove.

Dark and ominous vocal lines, from which the track finds its title, pockmark the background backdrop and keep each bar full, impactful, and detailed. And while they feel cyclical during the dance sections of the release, they have a chance to open up fully and speak out the totality of their phrases during the breakdown section as the energy builds once more.

The raucous energy continues on overdrive throughout the second track of the EP. ‘Gone’ picks up where the previous tune left off, featuring many of the same energetic patches as before, but bringing new subtleties and tensions to the mix.

Acidic synth stabs are introduced in the song’s back half to add even further dystopian and unsettling energy to the composition, leaving the listener on the edge of their seat from first to last.
