This year at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market show in Denver we got the chance to meet the guys from VSSL, a super cool company that makes highly portable and compact “vessels” for your outdoor and camping adventures. We immediately thought of how useful these kits could be for festival campers who might find themselves in a jam or just for any you who spend a lot of time outside in the summer months.

Let’s start with the most apparent VSSL for your festival camping needs, the camp flask. This unit comes with the standard precision compass and flashlight that features a 200-lumen rating, a red light for less visible light and an SOS pattern in case of emergency. If you unscrew the flashlight top, you have access to a bottle opener and two compactable shot glasses for popping back the liquid of your choice (it’s bourbon right?). On the other end the compass screws off to reveal a 9oz flask, just enough to get you and a friend a tad toasty – depending on the liquid of course.

Next up is the Camping Supplies VSSL for the more serious campers out there and those prone to go on more intense adventures. Inside this vessel, you will find so much camping gear that you might as well call it a survival kit. Tightly packed into compact little pucks, you get just about everything you might need to survive outdoors. Included are the following: standard flashlight, precision compass, fire starter kit, mini first aid kit, rope and razer, fishing kit, candle, wire saw, water purification kit, misc gear kit (aluminum beadless whistle, 2 gear ties to hang gear, mini sewing kit for repair, versatile P38 Military GI can opener), adventure tape, and a bamboo cloth. If you tap into any of these pucks, not to worry, you can buy replacements for the kit HERE.

Last but not least is probably the most critical VSSL of all for festival campers, a comprehensive first aid kit. This kit can be carried with you in your car, backpack, or just kept at your campsite should first aid emergencies to arise during your festival or outdoor adventure. Inside the vessel you get the following: standard light and compass, adventure tape, large bandages, knuckle bandage, 3M Steri strips for deeper cuts, disposable thermometers, antiseptic towelettes, celox for blood clotting, antibiotic and burn creme, aspirin, Advil, tweezers, whistle, safety pins, gauze and medical gloves. You are ready for problems big and small with should any trouble arise – which hopefully it will not.
