Medicine’s “Just Walk Away” works because it knows what needs to stay in the center. The track lands September 25 on Make Your Era, and while it has the rolling drum pressure and low-end movement expected from contemporary Drum & Bass, the vocal is the thing that gives it shape. Everything else moves around it.
That is a smart choice for this kind of record.
Liquid and soulful Drum & Bass can get too polite when the drums are softened too much, while heavier club-focused DnB can sometimes bury the topline under too much movement. “Just Walk Away” sits between those two instincts.
It keeps the vocal immediate, but the rhythm section has enough bite to keep the track from feeling like a pure headphones record.
That balance also fits the Make Your Era catalog. Vibe Chemistry’s label has been building around developing producers who work across different corners of modern Drum & Bass, and Medicine’s single gives the imprint a vocal-led cut with enough floor energy to sit naturally next to the label’s heavier material.
Medicine Knows How to Keep the Energy Moving
Originally from Ascot, Medicine is part of a new wave of UK Drum & Bass producers who do not seem interested in treating melody and weight as separate things. “Just Walk Away” is built around songwriting, but the track still has the rolling drum language and bass pressure needed for a set.
That mix is probably why Medicine has already picked up support from K Motionz, Ed Solo, Sub Zero, and Vibe Chemistry. The latter also included one of Medicine’s previous productions in a BBC Radio 1 mix, giving him a wider platform before this Make Your Era release.
The DJ angle matters here. Medicine’s sets reportedly move between vocal records and heavier selections, and “Just Walk Away” feels like that approach translated directly into the studio. It has an accessible topline, but the drums are not treated as background support. They keep pushing, and the bass keeps the track anchored.

Make Your Era has become an interesting platform because it does not feel locked into one narrow version of Drum & Bass. Founded by Vibe Chemistry, the UK label gives newer artists room to work across vocal-led, soulful, club-driven, and bass-heavy forms without making the catalog feel scattered.
That is often where vocal-led DnB succeeds or fails. A good topline can bring listeners in quickly, but the production still has to carry repeat plays. Medicine keeps enough rhythmic detail around the vocal to make the arrangement feel alive, especially in the way the horns and fills appear without crowding the track.
Make Your Era has already shown interest in artists finding their own pocket, as seen in my earlier coverage of RAW78 and Samara’s “Lost In Motion”. “Just Walk Away” adds another side to that picture, one that leans more directly into vocal emotion while still keeping the drums active.
“Just Walk Away” Gives Medicine a Clear Next Step
For Medicine, “Just Walk Away” feels like a clean introduction to what he is trying to build: melodic enough to bring in listeners outside the hardest DnB circles, but still energetic enough to hold its place in a set. The vocal gives the track its identity, the drums give it motion, and the bass keeps it from drifting too far into softness.
That is a lane worth paying attention to, especially as Drum & Bass continues to pull more listeners from outside its traditional audience. The genre’s vocal-led side has become one of its most accessible entry points, but accessibility only works when the records still feel like Drum & Bass at their center.
Medicine gets that balance right on “Just Walk Away.” It is soulful without becoming lightweight, playful without getting cluttered, and direct enough to feel like a proper label debut moment.
