Dias Ridge’s new mix works best as a snapshot of where his taste is sitting right now. It draws on melodic house, progressive-leaning club records, and slightly left-of-center selections, giving the mix a texture and diversity which is perfect to open the weekend with.
That helps support the concepts of his recent Interstice / Balance release on Magnetic Magazine Recordings. Those records felt like a producer trying to keep the functional side of melodic house intact while still leaving room for odd details, rhythmic turns, and personal taste. This mix does the same thing from the DJ side.
You hear that early with Bonobo, Trilucid, Janus Rasmussen, and Hayyoo, which all help set a patient, melodic tone before “Interstice” comes in. From there, the set starts to feel less like a promo vehicle and more like an artist placing his own music in the records he actually cares about.
That is usually the biggest test.
Why This Mix Works
The smartest part of the mix is the pacing. Dias Ridge gives the records enough room to do their job, and the set never feels like it is racing toward a payoff it has not earned yet. “Interstice” lands early enough to frame the mix, then “End To Begin” and “Balance” arrive later with enough surrounding context to feel natural.
That also connects to what he said in our interview about cutting through noise, staying curious, and avoiding the trap of letting platform numbers define the work. This mix feels like it was built from taste first. The selections are clean, but they still have enough personality to keep the set from feeling overly polished.
