That’s obvious.. The likes of Sammy Virji and Interplanetary Criminal are taking the sound further than blighty, and one of the biggest markets for the sound right now is Australia.

Enter Friendless, the NSW artist making a UK Garage cut that thrives on bold sonics and razor-sharp production. Out via Bad Parrot, the track is an unflinching, bass-forward statement that fuses Friendless’ seasoned technical finesse with BUTTERS’ fresh, underground energy.

The opening line — “Everybody knows I’m a bad ass bitch” — sets the tone with unshakable confidence. From there, the production pulls no punches: a pitch-shifting bassline drives the rhythm with elastic intensity, locking tightly to crisp 2-step percussion. Subtle, ripple-like FX swirl between the beats, adding depth without clutter, while strategic use of negative space keeps every drop hitting harder.

One of the track’s standout features is its vocal manipulation. The stuttered “everybody” motif creates a rhythmic counterpoint to the main groove, building anticipation before the bass surges back in. Midway, the vocal strips down to the cutting “you bitch” moment, a calculated break that slingshots the energy straight back to the floor.

“I’d been hanging with BUTTERS in the studio for a while,” says Friendless. “When this hook landed, it felt like the perfect match. A few sessions later, and we had ourselves an absolute TUNE — I’m biased, but still.”

BUTTERS adds, “I’ve been playing sets around the Sydney scene and put out a few mixes and edits on SoundCloud. Artists like Interplanetary Criminal and Silva Bumpa have definitely influenced my sound and the direction I want to take things. Friendless and I cooked this one up and I’m very excited for the release — hopefully just the beginning of plenty more to come!”
