Simon Vuarambon has quietly built one of the most consistent and respected careers in progressive house, with a catalog that spans labels like All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, and Bedrock. His sets have become known for their precision and restraint—slow builds, long arcs, and a patience that rewards close listening. And in January of this year, he was tapped for a three-hour opening slot ahead of John Digweed at Metropolitano in Rosario, playing to a sold-out crowd of 5,500 people before handing it over for Digweed’s five-hour closer.
That set is now available on his SoundCloud, and it lands as Simon gears up for another big run—this time alongside Digweed across Australia for a series of Bedrock Showcases in Melbourne and Sydney, plus solo shows in Byron Bay, Perth, Tokyo, and the U.S. His touring calendar includes a return to Do Not Sit in Miami, House of Yes in New York, and Agave in Avon.
This momentum follows his 2024 Bedrock release with Tantum and two tracks featured on Digweed’s Live in Stereo compilation, helping further solidify his reputation not just as a trusted warm-up DJ but as a producer capable of anchoring global stages.
We caught up with Simon to talk about how he approaches these kinds of gigs, how his sets evolve from night to night, and what it means to be preparing again to share the stage with someone who helped shape his career from the start.
Interview With Simon:
1. Do you prepare any differently when you’re opening for someone like Digweed?
Simon Vuarambon:
Yes—depending on who I’m opening for, I always go through my range of music and try to build a set that sets the tone and makes their job easier. Playing before John is both an honor and a big challenge, so I always give it everything I’ve got.
2. How do you mentally approach playing before a legend?

Simon Vuarambon:
It’s a special feeling. I used to go see John play when I was just starting out in Argentina, so I take it seriously. I try to bring fresh material from the studio and dig deep for records that will let me improvise depending on how the night unfolds.
3. What kind of pressure—if any—do you feel when you’re warming up a crowd like that?
Simon Vuarambon:
Especially in Argentina, where these shows were around 7,000 people each night, the energy from the crowd is massive. But I’ve had enough experience opening for artists over the years that I can enjoy it now.
It’s less about pressure and more about wanting to do a great job. That said, I’ve only opened for John in Argentina so far—I’m really curious to see how the Australian crowd feels this time around.
4. Tokyo to Perth to Byron—how do you keep your sets fresh night to night?
Simon Vuarambon:
I usually pack a wide range of tracks in each playlist—different moods, different intensities—so I can adapt to what the room feels like. For daytime sets especially, the energy can shift, so I try to stay flexible and play in the moment.
5. Looking back on your first time hearing a Digweed set, did you ever imagine you’d be here now?
Simon Vuarambon:
Not at all. I learned so much from listening to his sets over the years. He’s such a unique DJ. Getting to release on Bedrock and now open for him on tour feels like a full-circle moment.
6. How do you build trust with the crowd early in your set?
Simon Vuarambon:
I usually start deep and slow—lower tempo, longer blends. That gives me time to read the room and ease into a connection. Once I feel that click, I let the energy build naturally.
