Today, beloved Techno icon, Sandwell District member, and California native Juan Mendez, aka Silent Servant, has passed away. The news was confirmed by his management and booking agency Triangle. A staple of the Los Angeles underground, his career spanned over 30 years. Beyond the techno scene, he was a champion of the new wave and was heavily involved in bringing left-field sounds to the masses.
Tragically, his wife Simone Ling, and fellow Californian artist The Soft Moon, aka Luis Vasquez, also lost their lives. The cause is unknown, but regardless, this loss of life has left a serious and heavy impact.
Rest in power, Juan, Simone, and Luis.
