Lastlings have released the fifth and final track from their upcoming sophomore LP, Perfect World. “Gravity” is a commanding and confident tribute to their album’s theme of love and lust, with synth stabs and basslines worthy of a theater. The thoughtful lyrics, sung by Amy Dowdle, dance around the cinematic scapes of Gravity’s pads.

The duo never disappoint, and “Gravity” proves just that. The strength and melody of the vocal inflections remind us that Lastlings’ music is powerful, and not just in one way; most of their tracks could be festival-mainstage material, while also having the moodiness, confidence, and most importantly, extreme emotion for solo listening.

Lastlings have also premiered a stunning music video, shot in Japan with longtime friend and collaborator Rico Zhang, who has worked on Perfect World‘s album trailer and music videos. Shot partially in Tokyo, Lastlings took special care to make sure the music video’s message fits the message of “Gravity” and the rest of the tracks on the album. The cinematography, choreography, and lighting are all top-notch, including a diverse range of moods, following the evolution and swell of the song.

Perfect World arrives Friday, June 23rd. Lastlings’ debut album has attracted fans in the form of other musicians far and wide, demonstrated by just how many signed up to give First Contact their signature remix treatments. With their tour now expanding to North America, Lastlings is one duo you don’t want to miss on your radar.
