As we slide into the back half of summer, we reluctantly start to think about cooler temps and the eventual onset of autumn. Magnetic teamed up with some of our favorite brands to feature some of their latest gear that is dropping this fall or is perfect for late summer vibes.
Boulder Denim – This Canadian company makes jeans for extreme situations, like rock climbing and gnarly hikes into the wilderness. These are technical jeans, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at them. Great style, insane stretch and durability, and unmatched comfort make these the perfect all around jean for anything you can throw at them. From festival stomping to long haul flights. It will be impossible for you to wear anything else once you have slipped them on.
We tested the Slim Fit classic and the new 2.0 in pitch black.
Chrome – This cult brand has been a long time staple of our wardrobe and bag stash, since 1995. Chrome Industries is now under new leadership and still continues to innovate with fabrics, bag design and cuts. We tested some of their gear and were super stoked on the company’s latest product evolution. Keep an eye out for a deeper brand feature coming soon.
We tested the following: Chrome Avail Back Pack $160, Kadet Messenger Bag $80, The Cardiel Shank Hip Pack $45, Merino Short Sleeve Tee $60, Merino Long Sleeve Hoody $85 and Chrome Baseball Cat $25

Element x Bad Brains: Element is about as OG as they come when it comes to skateboarding apparel and hardware, but like many core brands they have found a large following across the world of action sports and various other cultures. Their latest project with legendary punk band Bad Brains might be one of the coolest collabs we have seen in a long time – so big props on this one. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the collection featuring tees, jackets, fleece and more TBA.

Goldwin – This Japanese brand has been consistently catching our eye with their high quality materials and progressive designs. In this shoot we feature the Coach Jacket Shirt $330, Crewneck SS Tee $95 and Stretch Chino Pants $260
Check out other Goldwin looks from past shoots.

Filson – This classic brand is always one to watch with their rugged styles and high quality gear. If you are looking for timeless pieces that will be at home just about anywhere and always in style – Filson should be on your radar. You can pair this brand with a more streetwear look or go full Grizzly Adams, it’s just that versatile.
We tested the Ultralight Vest ($125) which packs down nice and tight to give you a little extra warmth for colder festivals. It also looks great layered over a denim jacket for more urban style.

Ciele Athletics – We just discovered this super slick brand from Montreal at the last Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show. At the moment the brand is focused on hats with all sorts of classic sports and design inspirations, from cycling to running. Bright colors, high quality materials, unique designs and pure comfort have made them one of our new favorites. The hats are buttery soft, breathable and perfect for activities like running or casual cycling. Prices range from $40 – $50 and worth every penny.
Peak Design – If you are into photography you probably already know about these guys, but if you don’t they should be on your radar. Their backpacks and travel bags are some of the most innovative on the market and work for a variety of lifestyles, not just photographer stuff. We tested the 45L Travel Bag and will have a full write up on it shortly along with some of their other new gear. Until then you can read up on our first review of the 45L Travel Bag prototype.

Insect Shield – The one thing that most of us almost always forget about, along with sun screen, is bug repellent. When you head out to summertime festivals, camping trips or just about anything outdoors, chances are you will be encountering pests of all sorts. Insect Shield safely binds bug repellent deep into the fibers of their clothing and accessories to help you keep mosquitos, ticks, fleas, and other annoying insects away. We tested their bandanas, hats and a camp blanket while shooting in Evergreen, CO and they worked great. So instead of covering yourself in OFF or other chemicals, check out all the options that Insect Shield provides – we think it’s a much better alternative than bug spray.
