Black Friday music production sales are already arriving, and while discounted plugins and sample packs are always worth checking out, Black Octopus Sound is doing something a little different this November. The company is giving one producer a Sequential Fourm synthesizer, a compact four-voice analogue instrument built around the architecture of the Prophet-5, with polyphonic aftertouch, hands-on modulation, and a 37-key keyboard.

The interesting part is that you don’t need to purchase anything to enter, although the company is offering additional entries to customers who make purchases during the promotion.

The giveaway is part of Black Octopus Sound’s wider Black Friday campaign, which includes rotating 75% discounts on selected sample pack genres, software promotions from established developers, and free downloads. The company has also published a dedicated Black Friday Megalist that consolidates its current promotions into one location, making it easier for producers to compare offers without searching through dozens of separate product pages.

We’ve covered Black Octopus Sound for several years, and I interviewed founders Toby Emerson and Steve Roland alongside COO Slade Templeton about the company’s approach to sample development, working with producers, and maintaining quality across an extensive catalog. This promotion offers another chance to revisit the company, especially since the prize is a complete hardware synthesizer rather than another software bundle.

How to Enter Black Octopus Sound’s Giveaway

Entering the competition doesn’t require a purchase.

Participants need to follow Black Octopus Sound on Facebook and Instagram, then submit their email address through the company’s official giveaway page. The registration also adds participants to the Black Octopus Sound newsletter, which they can unsubscribe from afterward.

Customers who purchase sample packs, plugins, or production software during the promotion can receive additional contest entries. Black Octopus Sound states that every additional $1 spent provides one extra entry, so the number of entries can increase according to the amount purchased.

This structure gives customers more chances to win, although the free entry option remains available.

The competition closes November 30, 2026, and we will notify one winner by email on or before December 15. Check the eligibility conditions before entering. Participants must live in a country where the synthesizer can legally be received from the United States or Canada, and shipping costs cannot exceed $200 unless an alternative arrangement is agreed upon. The selected winner must respond within seven days and correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

Full instructions and conditions are available on the official Sequential Fourm giveaway page.

Black Friday Discounts Include Software and Sample Packs

Alongside the synthesizer giveaway, Black Octopus Sound is running its Black Friday Megalist, a collection of discounted software, sample packs, and other production resources. The company is rotating 75% discounts across selected sample pack genres, with techno included in the opening promotion. The page also lists software offers from developers including GForce Software, FL Studio, and EastWest, with discounts reaching 70% on selected products.

Free samples are also available, with a techno sample pack featured during the opening promotional period. Black Octopus Sound says it will continue updating the Megalist as additional offers become available, so individual discounts and featured genres may change throughout November.

We’ve previously discussed the company’s catalog in our coverage of Output’s Co-Producer expansion, which included Black Octopus Sound among the sample developers contributing material to the platform.

For producers considering new software or sample libraries, I’d recommend treating the discounts separately from the synthesizer competition. The chance to win a Fourm is appealing, but the extra entries shouldn’t be a reason to buy products you wouldn’t otherwise need. The free entry option makes the giveaway accessible without spending anything, and the wider sale is worth exploring based on the tools and sounds you actually use.

Black Octopus Sound’s giveaway runs through November 30, with the winner scheduled to be contacted by December 15. You can enter the giveaway or browse the company’s Black Friday Megalist for the current discounts and free downloads.
