Neural DSP today announced the release of CorOS 4.1.0 and Cortex Control 4.1.0, the biggest CorOS update in the company’s history. The release expands Plugin Compatibility to five additional plugins, bringing every currently available X-updated plugin to Quad Cortex and Quad Cortex mini, while introducing Device Presets, eight new Virtual Devices, and workflow enhancements that make building, managing, and performing with rigs faster and more flexible than ever.
With Plugin Compatibility now available for Archetype: John Mayer X, Archetype: Petrucci X, Archetype: Misha Mansoor X, Archetype: Rabea X, and Archetype: Tim Henson X, users gain access to more than 70 additional amps, cabinets, and effects that can be combined seamlessly with native CorOS devices and Neural Captures.
The release also introduces Device Presets, one of the most significant workflow improvements ever added to Quad Cortex. Rather than saving an entire rig, users can now save the settings of individual Virtual Devices, including amps, cabinets, drives, effects, and utility blocks, and instantly recall them across any preset.
CorOS 4.1.0 launches with more than 2,000 Factory Device Presets and lets musicians create and organize their own custom Device Presets for faster sound design.

The update also brings eight new Virtual Devices for every Quad Cortex and Quad Cortex mini user. New additions include the Multivoicer harmonizer, Glitch granular delay, Ring Modulator, Arpeggio Delay, Crystal Delay, Vintage Digital Reverb, Douglas Shining Comp (based on the Hyper Luminal® compressor by Darkglass Electronics®) and Plugin Parametric-4 EQ.
CorOS 4.1.0 features Dual Footswitch Assignments, allowing supported devices to assign secondary functions independently from bypass control, opening up new performance possibilities in Stomp Mode. Additional enhancements include redesigned Favorites and Recent menus, Device Presets for I/O Settings and Global EQ, updated Plugin Presets, including new custom Grid layouts and Scene-based organization for John Petrucci presets, improved USB audio stability when using Quad Cortex or Quad Cortex mini as a USB audio interface, and numerous usability and performance improvements throughout the platform.
