Matt FX returns to Non-Friction Records with Big Dish Energy, a four-track house EP that keeps the label’s early catalog loose, playful, and wired for late-night movement.

Recorded between New York, London, and Montreal, the project carries that cross-city energy without turning into a cleanly polished club package. There is a slightly crooked quality to the record that feels intentional, with each track leaning into oddball hooks, vocal flashes, and rhythms that feel built for DJs who like their house music with a little personality around the edges.

Snag It Here

That should not be too surprising coming from Matt FX, whose work has often moved between club culture, left-field pop instincts, and a wider sense of music supervision and scene-building. Here, he keeps the focus on the floor while still letting the tracks feel strange enough to avoid slipping into routine.

The EP also brings in a sharp cast of collaborators. Fellow Wolf + Lamb alums Greg Paulus and The Fitness appear across the project, while Moroccan vocalist Thaïs Sala adds a different kind of color to “Hold The Phone.” Across “Watch Your Mouth,” “Hold The Phone,” “Delulu,” and the title track, Big Dish Energy feels like a release built from small moments that catch the ear, whether that is a vocal phrase, a bass movement, or a groove that feels slightly bent out of shape.

As Non-Friction Records’ second EP release, Big Dish Energy gives the label a clear personality early on: dancefloor-focused, a little weird, and comfortable letting house music stay fun.
