Titouan L.C.S has created a project full of joy and blissful collaboration

Titouan has spent years doing the work that most electronically-minded producers only gesture toward — actual immersive engagement with global music communities, forming real creative relationships with local musicians and cultural figures across the destinations he travels to. His 2023 “musical exile” to Abidjan is the beating heart of this record, and that experience gives Hiver Blanc à Abidjan a grounded specificity that separates it from the vague world-music adjacent territory lesser producers might have produced from the same material.

The album doesn’t pretend to be a cohesive stylistic statement, and that honesty is one of its strengths. Afro-house pulses through lead single “Coeurs Croises,” baile funk surfaces on “YOUZOU,” and a Knebel remix of “KORHOGO” drags the record into harder techno and hardgroove territory entirely. It’s closer to a mixtape than a traditional album — a snapshot of a restless, curious mind rather than a carefully positioned artistic statement. That looseness could frustrate, but in practice it energises.

What ties everything together is the consistent presence of live instrumental elements woven through the production — organic textures that give even the harder, more club-focused moments a warmth and humanity that purely electronic compositions often lack.

As a document of global influence and genuine cross-cultural collaboration, Hiver Blanc à Abidjan is a vivid, restless, and quietly essential record.
