New York’s Alex Cherney and The Brothers Nylon are back with an epic double album Pool Party, and they are ready for you to dive right in!

When Cherney and his writing partners, The Brothers Nylon, were prepared to record their third album together, the one thing they knew was that it had to be a Disco record. Having dipped into Reggae and Soul music on previous efforts, this album had to be bigger, with a full, lush production sense, groove-heavy rhythms, and a combination of digital and analog production.

Alex“I had the idea to make it a concept album – following a fictional pool party from the start of the party to finish – and having it genuinely feel like a party with a mixed bag of vocals on the album, seamlessly flowing like a DJ set. Pop, soul, rap, foreign language, Pool Party has a little vocal style for everyone and remains grounded in a continuous disco groove (though varied in composition).”

Cherney has been having a lot of fun on his social media channels as well, providing a laugh while still promoting the release of the new album. This project is ambitious, with 21 songs and a little something for everyone! Set for release on July 4, 2025, Pool Party features vocals from Alex Cherney, Kendra Morris, Izzy Marinucci, Milli Smoke, and many more.

Alex“We wrote 22 songs, 21 of which made it onto the album. A double album. I then spent some time finding a good track listing where the songs flowed nicely, and got to work on finding the right vocalists for the project.

Some were successful musicians we knew, others were up-and-coming friends with a lot of talent, and others were musicians we admired and reached out to cold. It took time to find the right vocalist for each song. I had written some of the vocal melodies/lyrics, but other songs were a blank canvas for our collaborators.”

Alex“Adriana Gramly illustrated the album art, which features lots of little easter eggs from the songs. We are releasing the album under our label, Trialtone Laquer.”

When Cherney is not writing and producing music from his self-built tiny home in Beacon, New York, he writes and directs films, collects crystals, and builds things. Alex Cherney is a Renaissance man, and his motto is “Summer Year Round”, which I can get on board with!

Pool Party is out now, and you can buy it on Bandcamp.
