Malóne’s Label WHYNOTUS Drops Inaugural Compilation, ‘MIAMI GROOVE VA’

House music fans have reason to celebrate this weekend as WHYNOTUS, the event brand and label founded by Malóne, dropped its debut compilation on Friday. The compilation is called ‘MIAMI GROOVE VA’ and features six tech house and Afro house songs boasting influences from various cultures around the world.

Miami-based Malóne brought together innovative artists including Amal Nemer, Morpei, Damelo, Sounds Of Rituals, Pablo Alhach, Des & Del, DZR, and Sabrosura Boyz for the project. The songs represent a cacophony of ethnically-influenced sounds originating in countries like Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, Cuba, Israel, and the USA.

The compilation’s lead single, “Get It,” is a percussion-fueled anthem from Venezuelan-Lebanese producer Amal Nemer. Drums combine with mesmerizing synths and an enchanting vocal to deliver a dance floor-ready heater just in time for summer.

Longtime friends and DJ/producer duo Des & Del created “That’s It,” a vibey tech house track that brings a wavy, club-friendly bassline to the compilation. The song fits well within their brand of driving, groovy, and minimalist songs that often incorporate Latin influences.

“Funky Work” is another favorite off of ‘MIAMI GROOVE VA.’ The aptly named track was produced by rising tech house star Damelo, who spent time last year atop Beatport’s list of most hype tech house artists of 2023. ‘Funky Work’ incorporates keyboard notes reminiscent of jam bands, pairing those distinct sounds with an energetic tech house bassline to produce a unique and lovable tune.

Colombian producer and percussionist Pablo Alhach combined forces with Israeli producer Sounds Of Rituals to create another sensational song in “Tu Sabor.” The track features myriad ethnic influences, which can be found in all aspects of the song from the powerful bassline to the finesse-filled horns in the background. Make sure you have room to dance when you listen to this one – because you’ll undoubtedly need it.

“One of the main reasons I started WHYNOTUS was to put out dope music from talented artists worldwide and showcase them at our live event series,” Malóne stated excitedly. “‘MIAMI GROOVE VA’ is packed with some serious heat.”

The project has the makings of a great success and provides a glimpse into what else could be in store for Malóne, WHYNOTUS, and the tech and Afro-house communities in 2024 and beyond.
