“Mwaki was already dance floor ready, so I wanted to bring something totally new to it. I was listening to a lot Cumbia Rebajada when I was in Colombia making my EP last year and loved the slowed down vocals, it reminded me of UK garage. I sort of took both those as inspiration to infuse a new Afro-house sound into this record.

There’s a phrase I found in, Kikiyu, the language that Sofiya is singing. “Kahora Karĩ Indo” it means going slow is beneficial, rushing is ruinous. I like that sentiment. We can all slow it down. That’s the spirit here.” – Mia Moretti
