In one of the hottest remixes to drop this week, Mia Moretti brings her innovative musical flair to Zerb’s “MWAKI.” Scheduled for release on March 8, 2024, to coincide with International Women’s Day, this remix not only celebrates female musical talent but also enriches the sonic landscape of the original hit, and we at Magnetic Mag were lucky enough to get first dibs on the track for a premier.

Mwaki was already dance floor ready, so I wanted to bring something totally new to it. I was listening to a lot Cumbia Rebajada when I was in Colombia making my EP last year and loved the slowed down vocals, it reminded me of UK garage. I sort of took both those as inspiration to infuse a new Afro-house sound into this record.

There’s a phrase I found in, Kikiyu, the language that Sofiya is singing. “Kahora Karĩ Indo” it means going slow is beneficial, rushing is ruinous. I like that sentiment. We can all slow it down. That’s the spirit here.” – Mia Moretti
