Living in the same era as the biggest names on the global electronic music scene is a privilege. Even more remarkable is when these artists continue to innovate over the years, surprising with great releases. This is the case with Brazilians Anderson Noise and DJ Murphy, two DJs representing Brazilian music on the world stage for over two decades.
Anderson Noise is a pioneering figure whose career dates back to the early days of the electronic scene. Resident DJ at D-Edge (São Paulo), Deputamadre (Belo Horizonte) and Mousik (Maringá), he has played in 32 different countries. He has been a resident at the Headstart night at the Tummills Club in London and had the honor of closing the famous SKOL BEATS festival in 2003 and 2006, an important festival in South America. He has also released 68 singles and EPs, 2 DVDs, 9 CD compilations and 65 releases on his label “Noise Music”. His label’s radio station is broadcast in over 14 countries.
DJ Murphy, on the other hand, is another veteran with a career dating back to 1992. Known for his unique skills, such as scratches in the middle of his sets and mixing four songs at the same time to perfection, his career includes performances at major festivals such as Awakenings, Lov.e and Manga Rosa, playing to crowds in Berlin, Germany. In Brazil, he’s a legend in the booth and a fixture on any lineup.
The release of the EP “Eyelevation”, by Kaligo Records, gives us two effusive tracks that encapsulate the collaboration between these giants of Brazilian techno. The original track, unmistakably a production by Anderson Noise, features a rising beat with effects that fill the atmosphere until they become unique and powerful. The grungy background vocals bring the darkness and synergy to a boil at the height of the night. DJ Murphy’s remix marks his debut on the label. With a more solid proposal and less spaced-out beats, his version allows us to pause and take imposing turns with the presence of violated elements and punctual grooves.
The fact that two artists with more than three decades of experience have come together for this EP is in itself an obligatory and very special sound invitation. A co-creation that demands our full attention, deep admiration and, of course, further proof of the lasting impact and relevance of Anderson Noise and DJ Murphy throughout history, both in Brazil and the rest of the world.
