Today, renowned Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds and Cercle unveiled their stunning live performance, recorded at a remote location in Iceland. This marks the first show by Cercle in Iceland, establishing a unique approach to live performances with no apparent internet connection available. The video of this highly anticipated performance is now accessible on Cercle’s YouTube channel.
The show was a momentous event, exhibiting a fusion of different genres. Ólafur Arnalds shared that the selection included more upbeat songs due to the collaboration with Cercle. These tracks were meticulously rearranged to resonate with dance music while incorporating a string quartet, offering a dynamic interplay of acoustic sounds and electronic rhythms. This innovative approach underlines the successful partnership between the artist and Cercle.
In addition to collaborating with Cercle, Ólafur Arnalds continues his widely appreciated Ultimate Calm series for BBC Radio 3. In the second series, he introduces listeners to a calm and meditative journey, with each episode revolving around a unique theme. The series includes curated tracks related to the theme and features special guests such as Arlo Parks, Ibeyi, AURORA, Alfa Mist, and James Acaster, who share their interpretations of calmness through sound.
Lastly, Ólafur Arnalds renews his exclusive artist deal with Mercury KX, an imprint at Decca Records, after a decade of successful global partnership. This partnership has seen the release of five critically acclaimed albums, short films, and soundtracks since 2013, with Arnalds’ work gaining more than 1.5 billion streams, selling 150k physical units and consistently selling out live venues worldwide.
