Every year I do my best to avoid the hassle of holiday travel, so one of the things I was thankful for this past Thanksgiving was missing out on most of the travel mania. I somehow got pretty lucky with that one and was able to relish in Philly’s two-day blitz of festivities. After wrapping an interview with Société Perrier and having an evening at Check Yo with The Internet, I was headed for two back-to-back events both giving nods to the ‘90s with their themed Thanksgiving Eve parties. One being predominately grunge while the other was mostly all the hip-hop gems you could fathom, it was definitely a pretty sweet blend of throwbacks. Of course, Thanksgiving Eve is supposedly one of the craziest party nights of the year (and I beg to differ), but Philly made sure to live up to that theory. Pabst hosted an after-hours that ran until 7am and was jam packed with DJs from Making Time, Rock Tits and more. I felt like I entered a time vortex because I still can’t figure out how I spent five hours in a warehouse and then still was able to make it in time for an enormous holiday dinner. I guess at this point, I can also be thankful for time warps.
