Thanks to their presence, players can play offline to properly warm up before the real game. This article written by Volodymyr Huda is dedicated to interacting with bots in CS2. In addition to training with bots, we recommend tracking the performance of pro players and teams on the Profiler website. For example, you can analyze the nouns CS2 performance.
Capabilities of CS2 Bots, Their Advantages And Disadvantages
Using bots offline will allow you to practice shooting to improve your skills. They will also be useful in the theoretical placement of opponents at bomb placement points. With the ability to add bots, you can install as many players as you need to get a real experience. Also, pseudo-players on the server allow players to create and play out fun scenarios that will make the experience more varied.
So, you need to know how to make bots in CS2 in order to:
- Practice shooting. This can be implemented not only on simple but also on specialized maps. Bots will be used as targets.
- Practice throwing grenades. You can test the effects of incendiary and fragmentation grenades, hammers, and flash drives on these characters.
- Using bots, you can learn all the basics of the shooter.
Such characters have several disadvantages. They are as follows:
- Beginner level of difficulty. You won’t meet any serious opponents with bots, since they take quite a long time to aim by game standards, and also don’t know how to throw grenades correctly.
- As you gain experience, you will not be interested in playing against such characters.
- Bots in CS2 are programmed in such a way that you can surpass them in any situation. That is, even if they go into a tough counteraction mode, they will not resist much.
Despite the shortcomings, such an opportunity in the game is not superfluous for beginners who need to gain experience. That is why it will be useful for them to know how to make bots in CS2.
Of course, if you dream of a professional career and want to achieve the same results as, for example, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev from Navi, you should strive to play with real players.
Ways to Add Or Remove Non-playable Characters in Counter-Strike 2
In Counter-Strike 2, you can not only enable bots, but also adjust their difficulty level. When you start the game in several modes (standard, training, competition, deathmatch), bots are added to KS2 automatically. If necessary, they can be removed and then returned.
Experienced players usually want to remove these characters, as they contribute to blocking shots in private games. This can be done using a number of commands:
- bot_kick. Such a command will immediately remove all characters from a certain map. This can be done even without cheat mode.
- bot_kill. In this case, all bots will be killed for one round. Note that they will respawn again in a later round. For such a command, do not forget to activate the cheat mode using sv_cheats 1 (to disable it, enter sv_cheats 0).
Make sure your console is turned on before entering commands. This can be done easily: click “Settings” in the upper left corner, select the “Game” tab, and check “Yes” next to the “Enable developer console” line.
If there is a need to return bots to KS2, enter bot_add. This may be necessary if different teams have unequal numbers of players. When using the specified command, the character will by default join the team with fewer players. To add a bot to a specific side, use the following combinations:
- bot_add_ct – adding one pseudo-character per CT (special forces);
- bot_add_t – adding one character per T (terrorists).
When adding characters for a specific team, the game will redistribute their number for balance automatically; you can disable this option. Auto-balance on the map is disabled with the command mp_limitteams 0. With its help, you will eliminate the limit of players for any team. Instead of 0 at the end of the line, indicate the number of bots you need. The command mp_autoteambalance 0 will disable autobalance on the map, and you will not be able to include bots in the team due to the established player limit.
In addition to general settings, you can allow bots in CS2 to use only a certain type of weapon:
- bot_snipers_only (after introducing such a command, characters cannot use other types of weapons, excluding sniper rifles);
- bot_knives_only (only knives can be used);
- bot_pistols_only (only pistols are allowed).
Other commands for bots to use weapons:
- bot_all_weapons – all types of weapons are allowed;
- bot_allow_sub_machine_guns – submachine guns;
- bot_allow_grenades – grenades;
- bot_allow_snipers – sniper rifles;
- bot_allow_rifles – rifles;
- bot_allow_rogues – pistols.
In training mode, you can also give your characters commands that give you an advantage in the game. This:
- bot_controllable – determining whether players can control non-playable characters;
- bot_chatter with the values off’, radio, minimal or normal – manage bot conversations;
- bot_difficulty with values from 0 to 3 (from “easy” to “expert”) – control the difficulty level of the bot in CS2;
- bot_dont_shoot – prohibits these characters from shooting weapons;
- bot_place – bot_place – placement of the bot on the map in the place specified by the player.
How to Change The Difficulty of Bots in CS2?
If you want to change the skill level of bots in the new version of Counter Strike, you can’t do this through the main menu. In this case, you will need to use the bot_difficulty console command.
The console command for determining the difficulty of bots in KS2 can take the following values:
- bot_difficulty 0 – harmless characters (they can’t use weapons and shoot);
- bot_difficulty 1 – easy level;
- bot_difficulty 2 – average level;
- bot_difficulty 3 – high degree of difficulty;
- bot_difficulty 4 – experienced bots.
Final Thoughts
Playing with bots in CS2 is a good opportunity for beginners to gain experience in the game. There are many console commands to control interaction with bots. As you progress, it is recommended to play with real players, especially since there are a huge number of them in CS2. In December 2023, their number exceeded 770,094. We also recommend using the Profiler service to analyze the settings of players of famous teams, as well as search for current tournaments. The service is available around the clock, no matter where you are – in the USA or Canada.
