Programming Highlights Across Songwriting, Production, and Immersive Audio

Friday’s program begins with songwriting, presented by Neumann and Output. Sessions include hands-on clinics led by members of the West Coast Songwriters Association and Jai Josefs’ return with his “SongShop Live!” feedback workshop. A keynote conversation on success in songwriting will close the theme, with the speaker to be announced.

Artist development is another major focus. Neon Owl will host a demo listening and feedback session featuring tastemakers from Empire Dance, Create Music Group, and LabelWorx North America. Panels will cover practical career strategies such as music licensing for film and television, led by Sonnet Simmons, Michael Gross, Todd Porter, and Elaine Ryan. Marketing sessions like Everyone is High, Drunk, or Distracted: Market Accordingly will examine how artists can reach audiences in a highly distracted environment.

AI also takes center stage with AI and Music Creation: Beyond the Plugin, featuring experts from Splice, Output, and Audioshake. The discussion will look at AI’s role as a creative partner in modern production workflows.

Electronic music producers will find dedicated sessions tailored to practical studio work. Highlights include Karina Flonnoy on R&B vocal recording, Chrissy Tignor on intuitive production techniques, Sam Gutman exploring MPE and the future of keyboard performance, and JVNA delivering a masterclass on contemporary production approaches.

Immersive audio returns as a key theme, presented by ADAM Audio. J Clark will present The Art & Strategy of Mixing in Dolby Atmos, while Michael Romanowski leads immersive mix breakdowns and mastering sessions. Heidi Trefethen’s session Immersive Audio for All will address accessibility and democratization in spatial audio. The program also includes live feedback sessions and panels with Natalie Bibby, Marcela Rada, Matt Boudreau, and John Merchant.

Tickets, Partners, and What to Expect

This year’s event is expected to draw more than 750 attendees. Music Expo will again blend technical workshops with networking opportunities, mentoring, and gear demos. Exhibiting companies include ADAM Audio, Audeze, Novation, Oberheim, Neumann, Output, Steinberg, SSL, Warm Audio, Sennheiser, and many others. Attendees will be able to try the latest products directly from manufacturers on the expo floor.

Diversity remains a priority, with nearly half of the confirmed speakers being women. Founder Loïc Maestracci emphasizes this as a milestone that reflects the inclusive vision of the conference and its commitment to representing today’s music creators.

Tickets are available now at musicexpo.co, with single-day, two-day, and VIP passes. Prices increase after October 15. VIP passes include access to premium sessions and exclusive perks.

Since its founding in 2014, Music Expo has hosted more than 5,500 attendees and 300 speakers, becoming a fixture in San Francisco’s music calendar. With the 2025 edition, the conference continues its mission to support artists and producers by combining education, community, and inspiration into a focused two-day program.
